Smithsonian American Art Museum
January is FULL of inspiring art talks and film screenings at the American Art Museum and the Renwick Gallery. You can discover more about our new exhibition Nam June Paik: Global Visionary, hear from artist Marc Maiorana, learn from museum conservators about caring for our collections, or join a rousing discussion about modern and contemporary art in "Is This Art?"

One program that we're particularly excited about is a sneak preview screening of "40 Under 40," a documentary that goes behind-the-scenes of the 40 under 40: Craft Futures exhibition. The special screening is on January 10 at the museum's main building (details below), the show will air on the Smithsonian Channel on January 15.

Details
about these talks and more can be found below, or check our online calendar for information about all our public programs.

SNEAK PREVIEW SCREENING: 40 Under 40
January 10 at 4 p.m.

Some of them move. Others make noise. One weighs in at 700 pounds. Collectively, they represent the future of contemporary craft. 40 under 40: Craft Futures, a wildly creative and diverse exhibition assembled for the 40th anniversary of the Smithsonian American Art Museum's Renwick Gallery, is about to open. Smithsonian Channel takes us behind-the-scenes to experience the challenges and rewards of bringing together 40 unique artists at the top of their craft.

The screening will be introduced by Nicholas Bell, The Fleur and Charles Bresler Curator of American Craft and Decorative Art at the Renwick Gallery, who organized the exhibition.
