Register now! Teacher workshop: The Civil War in American Art
Bring the Civil War to life for your students through the eyes of the artists who witnessed the conflict's impact on the nation. Some, such as Winslow Homer and Eastman Johnson, considered the human narrative-the daily experiences of soldiers, slaves, and families left behind. Others wrestled with the ambiguity and anxiety of the Civil War and used landscape imagery to give voice to their misgivings as well as their hopes for themselves and the nation.
In this workshop, teachers will explore the exhibition with museum educators using activities and resources they can adapt for their students. All participants will receive a copy of The Civil War in American Art Teacher Guide.
