FASIG-TIPTON WINTER MIXED SALE

The market at the Fasig-Tipton Winter Mixed Sale in February showed declines in overall gross, average, and median. Total sales fell right around $10.5 million, down from last year's $13.5 million, with the average hip price falling from $33,319 to $26,012.

Despite all this, Hidden Brook was able to manage success, finishing out the sale with the highest selling horse and shattering the price of last year's sale topper. Rose to Gold, a multiple graded stakes winner who was sold by Hidden Brook as a broodmare prospect, fetched $450,000 to be the highlight of the two-day sale.

WinStar Farm purchased Rose to Gold and currently have plans to breed her to Tiznow.

She is the five-year-old daughter of Friends Lake, and was owned by Raffaele Centofanti and Kathleen Amaya, and bred by Joe Mulholland Sr., Joe Mulholland Jr., John Mullholand, and Karen Mulholland.

Hidden Brook also sold all 10 of their offerings in a sale that was marked by a 17.6% buyback rate.

Other highlights for Hidden Brook include Hip #600, Every Way, selling for $150,000, and Hip #235, Miss Lech, who sold for $115,000.

We'd like to take this moment to thank all the owners who consign with us, as well as everyone who helped run our consignment. We look forward to working with you all again very soon.

In her first start as a five-year-old, Merry Meadow overcame a bump at the start to win the $150,000 G3 Hurricane Bertie Stakes at Gulfstream Park by a resounding 9 ½ lengths, finishing the 6 ½ furlong race in 1:17.97.

This marks her third stakes win in a row, having previously won the Sky Beauty Stakes and the G3 Sugar Swirl Stakes in November and December, respectively.

Both of these two-year-olds are part of Hidden Brook's pinhooking partnership, and have trained very well leading up to the sale.

They will have their sale preview on Thursday, March 12th, with hip #272 selling on March 17th, and hip #365 selling on March 18th. Both will be available for inspection at Barn 10 of the OBS sale grounds.

As you know, February is a busy time for a thoroughbred nursery, and at Hidden Brook it's no exception. Plenty of beautiful foals were born this month, and we'd like to show you a few of them enjoying some of their earliest moments on the farm.
