Pianist Keyed Up for G3 on Saturday
Hidden Brook and Partners' Pianist will line up in the starting gate for the $150,000 Beaugay S.-G3 at Belmont this Saturday. Pianist is expected to face seven other fillies, five other stakes winners, in the 8-1/2 furlong event slated for the turf course. A stakes winner over the lawn at Belmont last fall and a winner on the turf earlier this season at Gulfstream, Pianist has compiled a record of 9-4-1-1 and earnings of $210,950 under trainer Chad Brown. The 4-year-old daughter of world-class sire More Than Ready was purchased as a yearling by the Hidden Brook team for $100,000.

America's best
Hidden Brook Grad Now One of
the All-Time Greats
When Game On Dude won the $1,500,000 Charles Town Classic-G2 on April 20th, the Hidden Brook yearling sale graduate vaulted into rarefied air as one of the all-time great runners of the American turf.
Game On Dude now has more Graded stakes wins (11) and higher North American earnings ($4,702,158) than any active runner. Game On Dude also holds a number of other unique distinctions: ▪ America's leading active money-winner in 2013 ▪ Top two Beyer Speed Figures this year (117 & 116) ▪ One of four in history to win the Santa Anita H.-G1 twice
Hidden Brook consigned Game On Dude to the 2008 Keeneland September Sale for breeder Adena Springs. He is one of six 2013 stakes winners either foaled, raised, consigned, or purchased by Hidden Brook.

New Race Partnership
Two 2YO Colts Join Stable
Juvenile colts by millionaire Grade 1 winners purchased at the Ocala Breeders' April Sale of two-year-olds in training will form the basis of Hidden Brook' newest racing venture, Dan Hall advises.
By highly-regarded first-year sires Colonel John and Pioneerof the Nile, each traveled safely from the OBS sale grounds, and has settled in nicely at his new barn. "We'll go slow with them for a few weeks and let them wind down from the two year old sale experience," Dan said. The partnership is still working on names, and once their availability is determined, partners will be able to vote on their preference.
Colonel John colt is with Chad Brown at Saratoga. Out of Grecourt Gates, by Dixie Union, this Kentucky-bred worked in :10.2 at the April 23 breeze show. The handsome bay is out of a young, winning mare, whose half-brother is a stakes winner of nearly $300,000. Colt's second, third, and fourth dams have all produced stakes winners. Click here to view catalog page.
Pioneerof the Nile colt is with Steve Klesaris at Fair Hill. The first foal from Shopping Again, by Awesome Again, the Kentucky-bred worked in :10.2 at the April 25 breeze show. His second dam is a stakes winner who placed in the Classic C.C.A. Oaks-G1, and his third dam is a stakes winner of nearly $400,000. Click here to view catalog page.
Hidden Brook team members will be at the Fasig-Tipton Timonium Sale May 20-21, searching for more potential partnership runners. We welcome your participation in these exciting ventures.

Inside the WINNER'S CIRCLE
with Joy Barnes
A popular feature for The HIDDEN BROOK TIMES is a Q&A with some of our valued clients. In an effort to better acquaint our readers and clients with the Hidden Brook staff, we have started featuring some of our key employees. This month we profile Office Manager Joy Barnes, a former restaurant owner and entrepreneur, who has been an integral part of the team since 2010. Involved in the Thoroughbred industry for six years, Joy gave up some valuable time during Derby week, to offer some insights about her work experiences and life in general.
Born: Versailles, KY
Residence: Midway, KY
Family: Husband, Bryan
Education: University of Kentucky
Joy, thank you for agreeing to be our featured profile this month. How did you come to Hidden Brook? Having owned my own business, I was well versed in the financial aspect of running a business and had gained hands on knowledge of the sales and stallion contracts, etc...from my previous job. I was excited for the opportunity to work with a group of people that others in the industry thought so highly of. Are you from a horse-oriented family? Yes, my dad had been a yearling and farm manager for over 30 years until his retirement, so suffice it to say I've been around the industry if not in it my entire life. In addition, I loved riding, so as a child I spent a lot of time in barns and arenas. What got you started in the Thoroughbred industry? After I sold my restaurant I was at loose ends. I didn't really know what I wanted to do with my life after having been working 80 hour weeks for over 10 years. A friend of mine called and suggested I talk to his brother, a partner in a large sales consignment company. He needed what my grandmother would term a "Girl Friday." Someone to take over and do anything that needed to be done. So I did. Through that, I learned about working the administrative side of the Thoroughbred business as well as the sales. What aspects of your job do you most enjoy? One of the best things about working for Hidden Brook Farm is that the guys let me do my job without peering over my shoulder. They hired me to do a job and that's what I do. It means a lot to be respected in that way. How has the Hidden Brook experience been different for you than any other industry experience? It's nice to work at what I call a "normal" job. Tell us something most of our readers don't know. As I mentioned earlier, I used to own restaurants. I opened my first restaurant in Midway at the age of 23, and a couple years later, one in Versailles. Wow. What's your favorite sports team? I bleed blue! Not only is it a religion in the state of Kentucky, but it's a religion in my family to be a Kentucky Wildcat fan. Favorite place to eat and favorite meal? Le Plouf, San Francisco. They have the best mussels... Words you live by? "Life is about the moments."--My Mom Best advice you ever got? If you believe it, you can do it! Final word for our readers? Don't blame me, I'm just the messenger!
Thank you Joy Barnes, for giving us a few minutes of your time inside the Winner's Circle.
