Don't forget, Gift Certificates make great gifts!

'Kansas Kitten' is a stunning bi-color purple daylily and is just one of the new varieties we carry.
Our great assortment of quality watering cans that will last a lifetime.

They are hand made in Slovakia, hot dipped in molten zinc then painted.

Paul is showing off the long-handled Korean hoe. The most organic way of ridding your garden of weeds.

GARDEN SHOP---
Fathers Day is this weekend, and you need some gift ideas, we have lots of great items in the gift shop. Watering cans are always a favorite and we we have the classic style can as well as the oval in dark green, bright blue, red, and the brand new lime green. You won't lose this one in the garden! Colors and styles are varied.
These dwarf Asiatic lilies are perfect for the smaller garden.
A brand new line of gardening tools from Spear & Jackson called the Kew Gardens Collection includes bypass pruners, topiary shears, weeders and gardening snips and more. This company has been in business since 1760 in Sheffield England and puts out a very nice product at a reasonable price.
'Coral Flame' phlox is an intense cheer
ful color.
We were also able to get the long-handled plow that so many people have been after once they saw Paul using one in a WNEP episode.
Birdhouses and feeders make great gifts and we have an Oriole jelly feeder and Birdberry jelly. This would attract more than just Orioles to your garden since other birds like jelly as well.

GARDEN CENTER---
We have many new varieties of plants that would make a great gift for the plant-loving dad. An upright Sambucus, dwarf Cephalanthus or buttonbush called 'Sugar Shack', a huge variety of hydrangea including 'Quickfire', 'Limelight', 'Vanilla Strawberry', 'Bobo' and more. Our Proven Winner daylily collection have begun blooming and 'Earlybird Cardinal' and
The garden shop is full of fun and interesting gift ideas.
'Kansas Kitten' are just two varieties that are in flower.
This has been a great year so far for trees and the growth they've put out is impressive! We have five varieties of maples--excellent for making syrup and for fall color! We also have oak trees, locust, cherry, crabapples, and lots more.

One of the lovely fountains we sell. This one is in my home and about 10 years old. It looks even better now!

SUSAN'S GARDEN---
My garden has become strangely quiet. Something is stalking and killing the birds and their babies. A mourning dove nesting on the crossbeam of an archway, with only its tail visible, is nothing but a few feathers. The same thing happened to a cardinal nesting in a spruce earlier in the spring. A robins nest tucked up inside a clematis vine, had one dead baby bird left inside. I saw the neighbors cat sitting and looking up the evening before, but I thought it was high enough to be safe. I was wrong. Two wrens are the last hold outs and both have nests in birdhouses. I hope this makes a difference, but I'm afraid the cat will be waiting below when the fledglings are ready to leave the nest.
Macleaya poppy is a striking architectural plant for the larger garden.
Ajuga has finished flowering and I've begun shearing off the brown stalks. The plants will become much fuller once this is done. Lambs ears are the same. Even the non-flowering varieties throw up a stem now and then, but they fill out nicely into a velvety carpet once they're trimmed. Now is a good time to pinch back perennials like sedum, asters, and phlox that tend to flop over. It will delay flowering time but that doesn't bother me. Trim back only part of the plant to double the bloom time.

Honeysuckle is a favorite of hummingbirds.
