Paul's Notes
Sorry about the shortened E mail. We really have been very busy getting the garden center ready. Our plants look fantastic and have really recovered from that cold snap that occurred a few weeks ago. We have been growing more annuals ourselves and, any extra we buy, come from local greenhouses. Please shop locally. It really does benefit the community.
GARDEN CENTER---Tomorrow we will be past our estimated last frost date so let the planting begin! Another shipment of plants came in this week---big pots of Foxglove including the new variety 'Dwarf Red', Monarda 'Pink Supreme', Leucanthemum 'Gold Finch'--a yellow shasta daisy, Achillea or yarrow 'Strawberry Seduction', a hybrid lily 'Tiny Bee Yellow', and columbine 'Little Lanterns', are just a few.
Geraniums 'Rozanne and the fuschia 'Max Frei' that has spread all around the upper pond, and we always sell out of, is in bloom and available. Great specimen trees including the weeping cherry 'Snow Fountain', and a flowering plum 'Thunder Cloud' are garden ready. Boxwood 'Green Velvet' is finally available as well as some great looking hosta--'Blue Angel', 'Frances William', 'Vulcan', and 'Minute Man'.

The annuals are ready to stay out of the greenhouse and we have a great selection---million bells, fan flower, sweet potato vines, angelonia, verbena, lobelia, and more! Now is the time for the best selection.
Our bare root stock has come in and though it won't be ready to sell for a few weeks, we have the hardiest roses you can grow---the rugosa rose. These will come back even when 'Knockout' roses don't. 'Blanc Double de Coubert', 'Dwarf Pavement', 'Foxi Pavement', ' and 'Purple Pavement' are proven hardy, plus they're fragrant! We'll also have 'Honeycrisp' and 'Royal Gala' apples, 'Superior' plum, 'Contender' peach, black currants and green and red gooseberries. If you're looking to make wine or jelly, we have grapes 'Concord Seedless', 'Edelweiss', and 'Frontenac'. Again, not available to take home, but we can tag them for you. |
