GARDEN CENTER---Our first plant order has arrived and there are lots of new and exciting plants. They're further along than plants that are in the ground, so they'll have to be protected from these flash freezes we're experiencing. We have a new Geranium 'Spiked Punch', Monarda 'Rockin' Raspberry', The stunning peach-pink peony 'Coral Sunset', Scabiosa 'Vivid Violet', Tiarella 'Sugar & Spice' for the shade garden, a bright red honeysuckle, already in bloom 'Alabama Crimson', a bright yellow dwarf physocarpus 'Lemon Candy', and some new colorful daylilies like 'Happy Enchantment, 'Jungle Beauty', 'Kansas Kitten', and 'Night Embers'.
Lonicera 'Alabama Crimson' is a sure-fire hummingbird magnet.
GARDEN SHOP---We're restocking our shelves with hopefully, everything you'll need to make this gardening year and enjoyable one. For garden clean-up, we have sturdy Trug Tubs in a rainbow of colors, sofy foam kneelers, Garden Scoops, and hand rakes. A sharp set of pruners are a must for spring clean-up and we have easy to use sharpeners or blade replacements for Felcos. Our favorite gloves are Nitrile Touch, Wonder Grip, and Mud Gloves and we have a full range of styles and sizes. Protect your emerging plants with Liquid Fence and Deer-Away, two of our favorite repellents.
We have a great selection of miniature and fairy garden accessories. From gazebos and trellises to 'stone' bridges and benches. This is the easiest form of gardening with the hardest bit being which pieces to choose. Check out our special offer below.

Stock up with lovely gardening stuff!

SUSAN'S GARDEN---The mild winter temperatures lured me outside in February and March, and I was able to accomplish many of the garden chores that I usually do later in the season. Doing a little work every mild day was much easier on my back, which doesn't seem to be as flexible as it once was. Trimming off the dead hellebore leaves before the flower stalks emerged was a big undertaking. The patch has grown, with many more seedlings from previous years flowering, and I have la mixture of pinks, mauves and burgandy. I'll need to transplant some of them to a larger bed, but I plan on keeping them close to the house where I'll see the large, nodding flower heads every time I pass by.
Unfortunately, the heavy ice and snow flattened them a bit and today's rain may beat them down even  more, but hellebores are very resillent and they'll probably pop back up again.
The rest of the garden looked dreary, but the forsythia, witch hazel and cornus mas with their yellow flowers were a welcome sight. Pulmonaria or lungwort has been flowering for weeks and several plants have sprouted in unexpected places among the edging and in the compost pile. I was able to clip the dead ginger and epimedium leaves back before the new flower buds came up and all the carex and fescue grasses have been sheared back to neat little buns.
