Decisions Are Made By Those That Show Up
There are some changes coming to the association board. It's time for new leadership that can bring a new perspective and some new ideas to all of you, so I will not be the president of the assn. in the next term.
I have been president now for 4 years and I think these associations should have a change-over every once in awhile to prevent megalomania hahaha!
I love this neighborhood and I love my neighbors. I feel honored to have represented you and hope you feel like I did a good job. A great big Thank You to all of you who encouraged me and supported my efforts. This includes the entire RPNA Board: excellent, smart people who also care deeply about Rose Park and have given so much of their precious time.
Our councilmember Suja Lowenthal is also due my thanks. Our association representatives and I personally were shown great respect by her and her staff. Great things are coming to Rose Park and Suja is committed to this.
I'm still working on some projects and will continue participating on the E. 7th Street Collaboration. This group is headed by Gretchen Swanson, (your current Vice President and visionary extraordinaire) and has been supported by RPNA. This is a small group of residents and business owners that want improvements made to
E. 7th Street. Everyone is welcome at these meetings. If you have an opinion about the street, come to a meeting. You can email info@rpna.org for now until she gets an email address for the collaboration.
It's been fun! I will miss writing these newsletters and maybe the new board will let me write an article for the future newsletters..
If I may, I'd like to impress upon you how important it is for you to contact the board, comment on facebook, and forward the rpna emails to neighbors. The biggest challenge I had was communicating with all the 22,000 residents of Rose Park.
If you do not go to the meeting,
other people make the decisions.
The RPNA board members are elected on July 13,2013 So it's time for a 2013-2014 board. Elections to the board will happen at a community meeting at the park - see below.
This could be your opportunity to get involved and join an effort to attend to neighborhood issues.
Why Does RPNA Need You?
The board meets once a month for 2 hours. Some members have a lot of time to spend on projects etc. and some don't. Board members are open about how much time they can contribute. Ideas are discussed and planned.
Fresh ideas are needed. Volunteers are needed. YOU are needed
The RPNA board has been "drama free" for as long as I can remember. Nice, capable, serious people trying to do their part for their neighborhood.
Wouldn't you like to be a part of this? You and your ideas would be welcomed.
Help keep Rose Park in the forefront.
What Can I Do For Rose Park?
RPNA needs board members, officers, committee heads, volunteers, FB posting, Twitterers, newsletter writers, event planners, liasons and anything else YOU can think of.
