Urban blight or decay has no single cause. It creeps into a neighborhood from many directions and can go unchecked unless the residents begin to notice and take action and unify their voice against it.
One of the biggest problems in fighting blight is when the residents consider an element of blight as a petty issue and resist reporting it. Some of us just aren't interested in "whistle-blowing".
Rose Park has many elements of blight and some are definitely creeping in faster than others. Your neighborhood association, RPNA, functions as your whistle blower. We are encouraging you to join us in preventative measures against blight in our neighborhood. We work hard in drawing your attention to these issues and providing a complaint forum for you. We also report these issues and the neighborhood's opinion of them to our council office and Suja's staff. We ask for action on these issues and the level of residents' support is important to the action taken.
Please become involved in these measures to move Rose Park closer to a blight-free neighborhood. Notice the differences between the neighborhoods in Long Beach. Do you see more blight here? Does our neighborhood look and feel safe?
The RPNA board members are volunteering their time so that we can achieve results. Be a part of this movement. Support the RPNA by becoming a member of your association and take action in this effort.

Paper signs on poles:
Paper signs for House rental, moving sales, garage sales are not permitted. Our neighborhood is FULL of them. Why allow marketing like this?
Here is the Muni Code for posting of signs on public property
posted signs muni code
Suja's office staff wants information on these illegal postings. If you see a sign like this, report it to Mark Magdaleno.
Lost Pets: We all want pets returned safely to their owners and understand why these signs are posted. If you MUST post such a sign, kindly remove it when your pet is found. Better yet, email RPNA with a pic and we will work with you to find your pet. We can use our facebook forum and email to all members of RPNA.
Dirt Alleys
Show your support of this effort to pave our alleys. Become a member of RPNA and email us with the address and current conditon of any dirt alley you see in RP.
Undesirable or harmful business activities:
Be vocal and Report your complaints about these businesses. Do we want a functioning crematorium in our midst? Do we want a marijuana store where our kids pass it on the way to school? Do we need or want 5 nail salons?
RPNA takes our responsibility strongly. Tell us what you want or don't want in the neighborhood. We work toward these desires but we must have input from YOU!
Neighborhood volunteers are always needed so if you're able to help, email info@rpna.org
