New Year...New Goals?

There Might Be An App For That!

It's the end of 2014 and the start of 2015...time to start that fitness resolution, right? In the "old days" that meant getting that gym membership and motivating yourself to actually get off your couch and get going. Today there are a multitude of fitness "apps" to get you going. Recently we came across an article in the Boston Globe written by Megan Allison. She took the time to give a brief description of a bunch of apps, here are some of our favorite. So, download one (or all) of these and get going on your fitness goals for 2015. Happy New Year!

1. Zumba Dance: Zumba might be a great workout and a lot of fun, but it also requires a certain degree of shamelessness, especially if you're a beginner. For those who are worried about embarrassing themselves, Zumba Dance brings the routines to the living room you can let loose without judgment while tracking fitness goals and calories burned.

2. MyFitnessPal: If you are counting calories, here's an easy-to-use app that'll help you out. MyFitnessPal provides a variety of tools for tracking what users eat, and how many calories have been burned. It's one of the easiest calorie counting tools on the market, with a large database of foods and drinks.

3. Couch-to-5k: This app makes it easy to get hooked on running. Train for 30 minutes a day, three days a week, for nine weeks. Couch-to-5k keeps things fun with music sync programs and virtual coaching.

4. FitStar Personal Trainer: This app helps find time for a workout during the day. Plug a goal into the app, and it will give a customized workout plan for each day. The best part is, the workouts are adapted to fit anyone's schedule. Only 30 minutes to spare? No problem. FitStar helps users find a workout to use that time productively.

Have your own personal trainers right in your phone for whenever you need a workout

5. 7-minute Workout Challenge: Your busy friends will be feeling the burn after just seven minutes. These 12 different seven-minute workouts will push users to the limit, but it's a nice change from the normal workout routine.

6. Yoga Studio: No gym membership is needed for these yoga classes. Yoga Studio offers a variety of lengths and levels of your favorite yoga routines.

Why Physical Therapy?
Because It's Good For You!
In 2014 we had the opportunity to help 1000's of people get back to their lives by getting them moving again. We believe in what we do and the APTA has put out a number of publications geared towards patients to let them know why physical therapy is the right choice...and also things to question if you are a patient receiving physical therapy.
