Achilles Tendon Injury Prevention

Summer is here...time for backyard volleyball, badminton and wiffle ball games...and also the unfortunate Achilles Tendon ruptures. Click here for more info. You can't always prevent an Achilles Tendon tear, but there are some basic steps you can take to help reduce your risk of having one. Click here for some exercises. If you are having any signs or symptoms of Achilles tendon ruptures, make sure you see your doctor, or, contact us at Blue Hills Sports and Spine Rehabilitation to help you get going in the right direction.

Exercise Is Good...Really!

This Just In...Regular Exercise Is Good For You.
This month Dave Mansfield MSPT, CSCS contributes an article all about exercise...why it's good for you and what you should be doing. How much, when and why. It's a very good informational article for the runners who don't lift and the lifters who don't run...and then also for those who don't do either! So, read the article and get out there and start exercising. Click on the picture above to be taken to the article.

Practice Good Swimming Safety

The hot days of summer are just around the corner and we will all be spending time at pools, lakes and at the beach...and swimming to cool off. The CDC Website has put together a handout with some basic swimming safety tips for the summer.

  • Every day about 10 people die from accidental drowning that is NOT boating related.
  • One in five people that die from drowing are children under the age of 14.
  • Most children ages 1-4 who drown will drown in home swimming pools.

So following some basic safety tips can help save lives this summer. Click here for the CDC Handout.
