Get Out the Vote on Election Day, Nov. 4!

What if everyone who works as a volunteer, board member or staff of a nonprofit voted?Vote with Your MIssion logo

That's the question posed by CalNonprofits ED Jan Masaoka. Jan thinks it would mean better healthcare and more funding for the arts, among many other improvements, and we agree.

Our next chance to make our voices heard, and to encourage clients and community members to do the same, is coming up next week. Will your voice be counted?

Here are some resources to make that happen:

Where to get nonpartisan (independent) information about candidates and ballot measures:

The California Secretary of State and the county elections office will provide nonpartisan voter education resources on the candidates and propositions on the upcoming ballot.

Election Day Resources

The California Secretary of State's website has links to county polling (aka voting) place locations from county elections offices. Find your county in the list and click the "Find Your Polling Place" link.

Countdown is on for #GivingTuesday
WHAT IS #GIVINGTUESDAY?

#GivingTuesday™ (#GT) is a movement to create a national day of giving to kick off the giving season, added to the calendar on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The third annual GivingTuesday is on December 2, 2014.

In the same way that retail stores take part in Black Friday, we want the giving community to come together for #GivingTuesday. We ask that partners create and commit to a project for/on #GivingTuesday and then help spread the word to their networks. We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back.

It's a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Join us and be a part of a global celebration of a new tradition of generosity.

Our friends at Development Executives Network (DEN) join us in encouraging all nonprofits to participate in this fun and uplifting event!
