videoVideo Grant Program for Arts Organizations

AMP media/Arts Council for Monterey County

 

The Arts Council for Monterey County recently funded a video production grant request aimed at improving awareness and widening audiences for local Arts Organizations. The grant to AMP media will allow for production of a specially tailored vignette for nonprofit organizations involved in music, theater, dance, and visual arts. Distribution through regional and local community television stations, On-Demand Internet platforms, social media, and hospitality venues is also part of the funded project.

 

Qualifying organizations must be 501(C) 3 non-profits, have a website and social media outlet (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest) capable of hosting video links, and be willing to sign video waivers for onsite or studio production (no more than 2 hours required). Organizations must apply via email. Deadline for applications is March 15, 2014.

Communities for Sustainable Monterey County (CSMC) is weighing the desirability versus cost of purchasing a General Liability Insurance policy (We already have Directors and Officers Liability Insurance). I would value any comments by other non-profits on this issue.

We are a small and have no property. How many small non-profits actually have a General Liability policy?

Free Financial Education Seminar Open to All Non Profits in Monterey County
Seminar is First in a Series of Free Financial Education For the Community

 

allUS Credit Union believes in financial literacy for everyone.  The credit union will be offering a wide variety of FREE financial literacy classes emphasizing basic banking, debt reduction, understanding credit, savings and investments.  The first class will be held March 19th and will focus on "Banking the Underserved."

filmFilm Student Scholarship Program Now Open for Applications
Monterey County Film Commission

Applications for the Monterey County Film Commission's Director Emeritus Richard Tyler Film Student Scholarship & Award Program are now being accepted. Forms are available at the film commission office, or may be downloaded HERE. Deadline to submit applications is March 14, 2014.

 

The recipient of the $2,000 award will be announced April 25, 2014.

 

The scholarship program was created to provide financial aid and incentive to students of film and beginning filmmakers who reside in Monterey County or are currently enrolled in a community college or university in the county. The fund was established as a permanent endowment with the Community Foundation for Monterey County. It bears the name Richard Tyler in memory of Tyler, who served 20 years on the board of directors of the Monterey County Film Commission, and was dedicated to the nonprofit's mission of bringing an economic boost to the county from film production and providing educational opportunities for local film students.

Encompass (formerly Santa Cruz Community Counseling Center) is a multi-service organization serving over 7000 Santa Cruz County residents annually with a broad spectrum of human services including: early childhood education, youth and family counseling, adult mental health, substance abuse, HIV/AIDS services, transition-age youth programs, and supported housing.

 

Carolyn Coleman will be retiring at the end of May after a wonderful career with our agency. Our Board and staff are looking forward to finding a talented new leader to build on our successful 40 years of changing lives, building community.
