Your Monthly News & Updates
2015 was a great year for the Foundation and we hope it was for you too!  We would like to take a minute to reflect on all of the ways God has blessed us this past year.  We are also going to introduce you to one of our Small Ministry Grant Recipients. Thank you for allowing us to serve you!

Blessings,
Anita, Jackie and Marci
Happy New Year!

Join us as we reflect on 2015.....

The Foundation turned 50!  Established in 1965, the Foundation has a long and rich history of supporting Nebraska United Methodist churches and ministries.

As a way to say thank you for your support over the past 50 years, we have created an endowment fund to support our Nebraska United Methodist Camps. Our goal is to raise $50,000.  Will you help us start the year off right and make a gift to this fund?  If you'd like to contribute with just a click of a button, visit us here.

The Foundation bid farewell to long-time friend and Director of Finance, Rosanne McClarnon, who retired, and welcomed new Director of Finance, Marci Logsdon, in March.

The Foundation held its first ever vision planning session in April. This session was attended by current and past board members, retired and active pastors, and other friends of the Foundation. It was a time to reflect on accomplishments over the past 50 years and gather ideas on how the Foundation can do even more to support Nebraska churches and ministries over the next 50 years.  If you have feedback on how we can better serve you, email us here

The Foundation welcomed three new Board Members and new Board Chair, Doug Skiles, and thanked previous Board Chair, Dave Wilcox, for his 10 years of service.

The Foundation distributed over $11,000 in scholarships to those students pursuing a career in ministry and over $50,000 in Small Ministry Grants.

Executive Director, Anita Crisp, visited over 30 churches throughout Nebraska during 2015. She is looking forward to seeing all of you in 2016.

These are just a few things we were up to in 2015.  As you reflect on your year, we hope it is met with as much joy and gratitude as we have had reflecting on ours.

Small Ministry Grant Recipient Spotlight:  United Methodist Men

The United Methodist Men's 100 Club was one of the recipients of the Foundation's Small Ministry Grant Program and with good reason:  The ministry is growing and is more active than it's ever been.  The Club's annual auction and dinner, pictured here,  is an example of that.  It is a great time for fellowship, especially among the youth who are encouraged to attend this event at no charge.  This is also a time to award the many scholarships the 100 Club hands out to support future ministers.  "We have over 30,000 ministers in the United Methodist Church but less than 1,000 under the age of 60," Randy Fleming, long-time supporter and member of the 100 Club, pointed out.  "The 100 Club was established to encourage young men and women to enter full time Christian Service to combat this issue." Randy continues, "We would like to thank the Foundation for the $3,500 grant we received. We want to move our ministry to the next level and we appreciate their support in helping us get there."

The United Methodist Men's ministry is currently working towards set goals to aid in the ever-growing interest and need of their ministry.  Some of their goals include hiring a part-time Executive Director. They also hope to develop a website with online giving opportunities, and grow their scholarship opportunities by creating an endowment fund which will fund $50,000 in scholarships annually.

Randy Fleming invites you to help support the 100 Club through a new initiative called the John Wesley Pillar of Opportunity, "We would like to challenge your United Methodist Men's Fellowship, and you personally, to join our John Wesley Pillar of Opportunity." The 100 Club invites you to write a one-time check for $5,000, or give $1,000 annually for five years.  Their goal is to use these funds, in addition to other funding support such as from the Foundation, to help fund the Executive Director position.

The Foundation is grateful for ministries such as this one.  Anita Crisp, Executive Director of the Foundation, enjoys the Small Ministry Grant Program, "It is our hope that these small grants will help to encourage the many United Methodist Ministries to continue their great work.  We want to thank our donors who continue to support the Foundation and give us the capability to make these gifts. We need to continue working together to ensure a strong future for the ministries of the United Methodist Church."
thank you
