Update on Percy, Heartland's future potbelly pig ambassador

Back in November, Heartland took in Percy, a male potbelly pig who was sold to his former family by a breeder. The breeder assured them he would reach only about 30 pounds full grown. Percy came to Heartland weighing 80 pounds, and he's still a growing boy!

Since coming to the Heartland barn, Percy has been receiving training sessions from our barn staff, volunteers and some outside experts (read more about one of those experts, Kourtney, below!) to get ready to become Heartland's "spokespig" for our potbelly pig educational campaign. Stay tuned for more details about this campaign on our Facebook page!
Support in our Community - Heartland thanks you!

Thank you Kourtney Franck!
Kourtney is currently a dog trainer at The Dog Den who volunteers her time helping the HFS staff train the pigs at Heartland! We train our pigs using positive reinforcement, which creates mental stimulation for the pigs and allows them to get more comfortable with our staff, volunteers and the public! Kourtney is a fantastic & talented trainer - the pigs, volunteers and staff love her! Read more about Kourtney...
