Calling All Artists!

You've heard of "Art on the Square", but did you know there's a new "Art in the Barn"? Please help us raise needed funding for our rescue, therapy, and education programs by contributing artwork for our upcoming Barn in Bloom. The event will showcase Wisconsin artists like YOU and proceeds support Heartland's barn renovation. Farm animal theme art is particularly popular with our
crowd! Artwork is needed by June 1st please - if you would like to donate please email
Youth Work Day on May 17th!

Heartland will be hosting a Youth Work Day on Sunday, May 17th from 12-2:30 PM. This is a great opportunity for kids to help out on the farm and meet our friendly rescued animals! For more information, contact our Activities Coordinator Quincy at [email protected]
Kudos to Ale Asylum for its generous support of Heartland - and great beer! Ale Asylum is one of Heartland's 2015 Major Event Sponsors so you can expect to see (and taste!) their award-winning brews at your Heartland events! Brewed and bottled in Madison, Ale Asylum is the spot for beer and food lovers - enjoy on their huge outdoor patio or funky fun indoor dining areas. Pay it forward by
tipping one back at their popular east side location at 2002 Pankratz Street.
Animal Spotlight: Butch the Goat
Butch (pictured here with Maude in the background) came to Heartland in 2011 along with Frosty, Jake, and Dakota (who has since passed away). The boys were around 8 years old when they came to us, and were surrendered because their caretaker was unable to care for them any longer. All four goats were a little shy when they arrived, but opened up as time went on.

Talkin' shop and chewin' cud

Heartland recently attended the UW Science Fair and gave participants the opportunity to learn about the wonderful world of ruminants (animals who chew cud!) Here volunteer Tera shows two young animal lovers how the goats at Heartland chew their cud at breakfast and dinner!
April is Stable Supporter Month at Heartland!

Help us build Heartland's budget so we can build a new barn, together! Your monthly give of $5, $10 or more has a big impact when combined with other monthly donations, giving us the stable, ongoing support we can count on to operate Heartland Farm Sanctuary. Please become a STABLE SUPPORTER today - we urgently need 100 new monthly donors in April to meet our growing work to bring people and animals together to rescue each other.
Animal Hearts program starting soon!

Starting in four weeks, Heartland Farm Sanctuary will hold its second round of the Animal Hearts Program and invites families with children ages 8 through 12 impacted by trauma and/or loss to participate in a supportive, fun, engaging group at our barn. Our first group was held last fall and was extremely successful! Seven weekly sessions will be co-facilitated by two licensed professional counselors and two of Heartland's animal care staff.

Heartland Memorial Day PIG-NIC!
Join us for Heartland's Memorial Day PIG-NIC at our barn on Monday, May 25th. The festivities begin at 11 AM with old-fashioned games, barbeque and picnic food favorites, and a chance for young and old alike to meet our friendly farm animal friends. Come ready to have a good time with your Heartland family!
Admission is just $15 for adults and $10 for children (ages 3 and under are free.) Your support helps keep our barn doors open for many more children and animals, thank you!
