Saturdays are very busy at the Heartland barn!  If you would like to do Saturday morning projects (besides regular animal care duties) please contact Alecia at Alecia.Torres@HeartlandFarmSanctuary.org.  These tasks might include running errands and working on projects in the barn/arena, and will include some heavy lifting so come ready to get some exercise!

You may have heard that Heartland recently rescued 126 chickens from a cockfighting ring in Glenwood City, WI. Now it's time to find loving homes for these beautiful birds! Make sure to follow us on Facebook, as each Friday we will profile an adoptable bird (or birds!) who is looking for his or her forever home.

Animal Spotlight:  Winky the Turkey

Winky came to us over two years ago, along with her buddy Edwina. A farmer who raised turkeys saw that they were both being picked on by the rest of the flock, and Winky's eye had even been pecked out. Wanting a better life for them, he contacted Heartland and we gladly took them in. At the time, Eddie our tom turkey only had one turkey hen so he was beyond overjoyed to have three!

Now that's the spot!
Animal care volunteer Lucy grooms Nilly the goat on a recent beautiful day on the farm. Back scratches in the sunshine - what could be better?
This year's Gala raised a record $75,000 with 302 participants who gathered to party like an animal for Heartland!

Our heartfelt thanks to all our generous Gala sponsors, auction contributors, goody bag donors, planning committee members and volunteers, and guests who gave from their hearts to build a homestead of healing for all.
Learn about your farm animal friends!

How long has it been since you've visited with your
animal friends at HFS -- either in person or virtually?
For in-person visits, tour frequency will be picking back up with the warm weather within view, but until then why don't you reacquaint yourself with your favorites and see who has joined us since your last "visit?"  Click here to scroll through the photos and bios of our beloved beauties and read about their backgrounds, personalities and favorite things.  Then be sure to set aside time for a trip to the farm this spring or summer to give a face-to-face hello!
