Would you like your new best friend to be a chicken, pig or goat?! The Heartland barn is looking for volunteer animal caretakers who can work 2- 3 hours a week, for a minimum of six months.  Morning and afternoon shifts available, Monday through Friday.  Training will be provided!
In Loving Memory of Baby the Turkey

Our beloved turkey, Baby, passed away earlier this month. Baby, who was born with a face deformity, touched all who came to Heartland.  Baby was a favorite with all our farm kids and upon hearing of his passing, one child wrote us: "I went to to the doctor today and found out I can't do any fun stuff for 2 more weeks because of my hand. I came home feeling really bad. Then mom told me about Baby. You never saw Baby pouting about looking different or complaining when he had his eye removed. So I will use the strength and courage Baby possessed to get through not just these two weeks but through tough times in the future. I would also like to say when I first met Baby there are three words: 'cutest turkey EVER!' I will always remember that cute and different face. I will miss you Baby."

Events in 2015!
Heartland is holding a record number of events in 2015! From family fun "Pig-nics" to our elegant "Barn in Bloom" there's something for everyone. Mark your calendars and bring your friends and family to your Heartland this year!

Animal Spotlight: Chachi & Fonsi

Chachi and Fonsi came to us in the fall of 2013 at around 12 years old. They previously lived with a woman who was unable to care for them any longer. One big question is: how do you tell them apart? Even the Heartland staff members have trouble figuring out who is who sometimes!

A little for you, a little for me...

Mallory (a friend to many of Heartland's residents) was more than happy to share her banana with Tyrion the goat!

Exciting news! Heartland needs your help!

We are beginning to plan YOUR renovations this summer!  We need to find some kindhearted professionals NOW who will donate some or all of their services to assist us in the following areas:

Civil Engineer - for site planning
Mechanical Contractors - for HVAC work
Electrical Contractors
Plumbing Contractors
Excavation Work

If you or anyone you know might be interested in helping us out in these areas, please contact Dana at [email protected] or 608-219-1172.

Heartland members, YOU DID IT!

You doubled the number of Heartland STABLE SUPPORTERS in just 3 months, and now we have 100 monthly donors! Now we need YOU to help us reach our 2015 STABLE SUPPORTER GOAL because our needs are greater than ever this year. Heartland has major barn repair and maintenance needs, we're expanding our animal-assisted programming offerings to serve many more vulnerable children and families, and we're also holding a record number of events and public tours this year to allow people of all ages to experience the healing nature of the human-animal bond. Heartland needs 250 monthly donors to provide $5,000 a month to keep our barn doors open.

Update on Year-End Matching Gift Challenge

In the very last minutes of 2014, we reached our $10,000 matching gift goal. YOU rose to the challenge and made it happen and we could not be more thankful
for your gifts. 2015 will be a magical year for Heartland, indeed!

Everyone at Heartland, especially Baine, thanks YOU!
