I am consistently impressed by the breath of the support the PTSA provides students at Lakeview everyday. As I am out and about in classrooms, I see parent volunteers working with students in small groups, hanging up artwork, helping run field trips and class activities. That is on top of special events through the year, like Family Game Night last week which drew a huge portion of our Lakeview families and community. Also, the supports the PTSA helps fund impact Lakeview every day, from classrooms with greater access to technology, to playground equipment enjoyed by students every single recess, to online learning programs that support learning in and out of the classroom. We can't do it without you, and if you haven't joined the Lakeview PTSA there is no time like the present!
I would encourage you reach out other Lakeview families new to our community. We consistently have a handful of families who are showing up in the middle of the year and orienting to a new school, new teacher, new PTSA, and new community. The Lakeview Family Network has begun very important work in reaching out to these families and providing venues for connection and support. They will be hosting an upcoming Parent Coffee in the Lakeview library at 9am on March 9th, I encourage you to attend, I would love to see you there, as well as reach out to a family that could use connection or support and bring them along with you. Thanks - Steve

LAKEVIEW PTSA VOTES TO SUPPORT BOND; HELP US SPREAD THE WORD!
The bond is part of a 30 year plan to make sure our schools support the projected number of students and aging buildings. It provides a fiscally responsible way to add more classroom space and relieve overcrowding by prioritizing the schools' most urgent needs, including handling state mandated all-day kindergarten and smaller classroom sizes.
By next school year, there will be 168 portables in the district; that's the equivalent of 7 elementary schools worth of classroom space being housed in portables. This school year, we added enough students to the school district to require 34 more classrooms.
Best yet, the bond addresses overcrowding without raising the 2015 tax rate. On top of this, better schools make everyone's property values go up! Here are some ways you can help garner support for the bond:
Ø Register to vote no later than March 28th! Encourage your friends to register to vote! It only takes five minutes and you can do it online: www.vote.wa.gov
Ø Spread the word to your friends, family, neighbors and colleagues, even if they don't have kids in school.

New Parking Lot Procedures
This week we began a new drop-off and pick-up procedure in the upper lot. These changes are to increase student safety and traffic flow and require all of us doing our part. If you have not yet done so, please watch the following 3-minute video which outlines the new drop-off and pick-up procedures: http://bit.ly/LakeviewParking |
Join us for Principal Parent Coffee Hour

Lakeview Parent Coffee in the Library 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 9
Learn more about the upcoming school bond election, give feedback about the new drop-off, pick-up system, meet other parents, and more. This is an especially good time for new families to find out more about volunteering at school, ask questions, and meet the principal.
This event is sponsored by the Lakeview Family Network, a program of the Lakeview PTSA.
