Principal's Corner
Lakeview Families,
Our second annual jog a thon was, once again, an awesome experience for our school. Our students had a great time rocking and running with their class and teachers. We totally lucked out with the weather, too! These are fun days for our students and will be an important part of their collection of memories from elementary school. It's always a great experience to be a witness to that.
Equally as impactful, though, is watching the adults of our community come together to volunteer, plan, set up, and donate important funds to this event. One of my favorite things about this school is the culture of community that is established here. This parent community can always be counted on to rally and help in a thousand different ways. Some parent help is public and visible. Some not as much. Each of those types of support is critical to our school. It was neat to watch that transpire again this week.
Thanks to all of you for your donations of funds and time. I see our students benefit from it every day.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Spotlight on Lakeview! 5th Grade Team
There are three teachers on the 5th Grade Team. Mrs. Brenda Edwards, Mrs. Megyn Essig, and Ms. Heidi Coebergh.
From Brenda Edwards: I am passionate about living a healthy lifestyle and being a good role model to my students. I love to workout and keep active doing a variety of activities outside and with my trainer. I enjoy spending time with my dog Molly and husband, Jim. Reading is a favorite past time. I grew up with a love of books! My mom is a big part of my life, and one of our favorite things to do is to catch plays at the Fifth Avenue Theater.
From Megyn Essig: I grew up in Kirkland where my husband and I have raised our two sons after graduating from WSU. I enjoy reading, going to the theater, traveling and watching my son play baseball. I love spending time with my family and friends sharing good meals and lots of laughter.
From Heidi Coebergh: My background is in art, and painting is something I enjoy in my free time. I also love math, and truly enjoy running 4/5 Math Olympiad. My husband and I also enjoy traveling both near and far.
Lakeview Spotlight is a new section dedicated to learning more about our teachers, staff and school. We are leading up to Lakeview's 60th birthday in 2015!

Classroom Yearbook Photographers Needed!
Everybody smile! The Yearbook Committee is desperately seeking several more photographers. If we do not have photographers for every class the yearbook committee may have to restructure the yearbook to exclude the class candid pages. The following classes are missing a photography volunteer:
Lailey Kindergarten Coulter 1st Grade Nease 2nd Grade Tiffany 3rd Grade Llanes/Douma 3rd Grade The Classroom Photographer needs to submit about 20 candid photos of small groups of students in mid February. Photos are usually taken during class parties or field trips. A digital camera is required but it need not be a "fancy" camera. Point and Shoots are perfect for the task! (Note: cell phone photos are not generally usable.) The Yearbook Committee will contact you with more specific information if you volunteer. Please contact Jenny Carlson fiveftjen@gmail.com if interested.
