Lakeview Families,

As you've probably heard, May is Bike to School Month. We kicked it off with our first ever Bike Rodeo which was a blast! I look forward to this event becoming a part of the Lakeview tradition.

We've really encouraged students to bike to school this month and have been helped by the beautiful weather! Last Wednesday was Bike to School Day and we were thrilled to have 41 students ride their bikes that day. This is a Lakeview record!

There is still time for your student to join in the biking fun. Forms are available in the library to sign up to formally participate in this month. Students can log their biking minutes on their biking calendars and earn stickers for riding to school. Feel free to join in the fun and ride your bike to school with your student.

A huge thank you to Marypat Meuli and her volunteers for organizing the rodeo, Bike to School Day, and Bike to School Month!

It has been fun to see our bike racks fill up each day!

Thanks,

Rebekah

Lakeview Art Walk
Art Walk is the PTSA Art Enrichment Program's Annual event where each child's work is showcased. Each month parent volunteers lead art lessons in Lakeview classrooms. This event is an opportunity to showcase just a snippet of the amazing art our children create.

Our annual event will be Friday, 5/30 from 6:00 - 8:00pm. This year's theme is Gallery Night. The Art will be showcased in the hallways and shared spaces of the lower level at Lakeview. Please join us for a night of community, food and Art.

The Numbers Have Been Crunched
Do you wonder how the PTSA makes and spends its money? Are you curious who pays for the Art Programs, Marathon, 5th Grade Celebration, IXL, Reflex, Field Trips, etc.? The PTSA does! Each year our PTSA Treasurers, the Ways & Means Committee and the Lakeview Staff review, adjust and improve the budget. In accordance with PTSA standing rules, this budget must be approved each year by the General Membership and Board for the following year. To see the current Board approved budget for the 2014-2015 school year, visit our PTSA website at http://lakeviewptsa.org/budget/budget-details/. The General Membership will vote and approve the budget at the next General meeting, Thursday, 6/12 at 6:30pm. Many thanks to our Ways & Means Committee for their help and input on the budget. Committee members were Suzie Green, Britt Domer, Megan Gardner, Jenni Heuberger, Rachelle Kortus, Karee Oliver, Julie Barker & Coleen Roberts.
Staff Appreciation: Thank You's
Staff Appreciation Week 2014 was a big hit! The staff felt appreciated by the cute posters and the sweet words of gratitude. They felt loved by all the wonderful food and treats that were provided each day. I want to say thank you to everyone who helped by painting posters, making food, and helped make this a special week for the staff. A special thanks to Lucia restaurant for providing food for the staff luncheon. It was great to see the enthusiasm to honor our staff. Thanks - Jenelle Mullet, Staff Appreciation Coordinator
