Family Fun at Lakeview Day with the Mariners! The Lakeview Intermediate Choir performed a chill-inducing, tear-producing rendition of our National Anthem last Sunday to open the Mariners vs Angels game. It was a fantastic day to be a Lakeview Leopard and witness the pride we share as a community. Thank you to everyone who assisted in making this event a roaring success. Most especially, a large debt of gratitude goes to Mary Pund and Rachel Brackett. Both women spent time ensuring the kids were prepared and safe, while families were comfortable in great seats to watch the performance and a victorious game! Thank you for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Next Week is Staff Appreciation Week
Monday, 5/6 thru Friday, 5/10 is Staff Appreciation Week. This is our chance as a school community to thank the entire staff for all the different jobs they do to help our children at Lakeview. The staff will be given various treats throughout the week. One way that you can help is providing a thank you note to one or more of the staff members on Thursday, 5/9. On Monday, a note card with directions will be sent home with your child. Please have your child return the card(s) on Thursday,5/9 with words of appreciation for a staff member. That staff member can be your child's teacher but let's not forget all the other staff members who help our children each day such as the custodian, the crossing guards, the lunch room helpers and food prepares, the recess helpers, the office staff, the librarian, music teacher, PE teacher, counselors, and of course, our principal. Only one card will be sent home, but please feel free to make or buy your own to show thanks to all those wonderful people who work with the children of Lakeview each day.! If you would like to help with other activities, please contact Jenelle Mullet at jenellemullet@yahoo.com.

WANTED: Enrichment Chair
For the past few years, Karee Oliver has been our Education Enrichment Chair on the PTSA Board. She has devoted countless hours to organizing and shepherding one of the most fulsome before and after school enrichment programs in the area. Because of Karee, our children have had the opportunity to pursue a wide variety of extra-curricular interests in areas such as Art, Chess, Legos, Math, Drama, Spanish and Science. Next year, Karee will be retiring from her role as Education Enrichment Chair, but is not leaving the Board. She will be taking on the School Services Chair position, which is responsible for Hearing and Vision Screening, School Pictures and Emergency Preparedness. We should all take our hats off to Karee for the wonderful work she has done!
Unfortunately, that leaves us in desperate need of someone to take the lead role on the Enrichment Team as Enrichment Chair for next year. Could it be you? If we don't find someone, we are in jeopardy of losing our before and after school programs. Two members of the Enrichment Team are planning to continue in the roles of Enrichment General Assistant and Registration Intake. Please consider reaching out to Karee or Megan Gardner, our incoming President for 2013-2014, for details.

WANTED: PTSA Special Events ChairEveryone enjoys the annual Lakeview community events. Ask your child what he/she thinks of Family Dance Night? The Carnival? The PTSA is seeking a volunteer to accept the popular position of Special Events Chair for 2013 -2014. We are looking for someone to oversee the events and coordinate the volunteers. You are not required to run each event. However, it is a great opportunity to get to know the Lakeview community and be a part of the PTSA board. Without having someone to chair this position, these fun family events will not take place. If you would like to learn more about this opportunity, please contact Megan Gardner lakptsavicepresident@gmail.com.

Tickets Still Available to Lakeview Auction
If you haven't purchased your auction tickets, please do so no later than Monday, 5/6. We are required to get an accurate count to the hotel or pay penalties. It is important to purchase tickets in advance. You can make a check payable to "Lakeview PTSA" for $65 per person. This will save the PTSA hundreds of dollars in credit card fees and hotel overcharges when people show up who are unaccounted for prior to the auction. Please pick up an auction ticket order form at school or download and print one from the auction website here. We need as many people to attend as possible to meet our financial goals! Help support Lakeview! Questions? Contact Jenni Heuberger 425-503-6791.
