Save the Date: Winter Carnival February 8th. Shake off those winter blues by circling Friday, 2/8 on your family calendar. The Lakeview Winter Carnival is back and will be an afternoon/evening of fun, games and frolic! Bring your kids to run off their energy or just enjoy the fact that we have almost 10 hours of daylight by 2/8. Also, we are looking for volunteers to run games, monitor the fun on the inflatable slide, or just be all-around helpers. Or, how about organizing a book drive/giveaway? Every bit helps and it always takes a team to put on any school event. For more information or to volunteer, contact Kendra Rosencrans, Cheerful Carnival Chair, at kendra.rosencrans@yahoo.com.

The event brought many of our Lakeview community together to enjoy a cultural costume parade, bountiful tables of delicious food, and special solo performances by students and parents. The finale was a holiday music concert by the Intermediate Choir led by Mrs. Brackett. Thank you to everyone.

Walking Wednesdays
Walking Wednesdays is a new program we started this year to encourage families to walk and bike to school to improve kids health and help with our traffic congestion problems. There's also a new study out which concludes walking or biking to school can increase a child's ability to concentrate to the equivalent of someone 6 months older. To encourage kids to walk or bike, we are giving out prizes at the end of each month for kids who participate in Walking Wednesdays. In October, we gave Menchie's gift cards to everyone who walked or biked to school every Wednesday (each teacher has a Wednesday Walking tracking form in their room). Next week, we will hand out the November prizes of a free Slurpee from 7-Eleven for kids who walked every Wednesday. We're going to combine December and January walkers and hand out prizes to kids who walk at least 6 out of those 7 Wednesdays. Join in, get some exercise, and win a prize! For more information, visit the Walking Wednesdays web page.
