Lakeveiw Dance Night Rocked
The kids practiced their dance moves all week with Gaylen the Dance Dude and everyone partied 80's-style to throw-backs like Michael Jackson's Thriller. This fun community event was funded by your Lakeview PTSA donations and put on by volunteers led by Dorothy Marx. Dorothy is new to Lakeview this year, so we really thank her for diving right in and making this event happen. If you'd like to help us organize the next event, please contact Barbara Dettweiler, our PTSA Volunteer Coordinator, at lakptsamembership@gmail.com.

Attendance Reminder for Parents
As we enter the winter season with rain, drizzle, and colder weather, please keep in mind you may need to wake your student up a bit earlier to ensure an acceptable arrival time to school each and every day. We are experiencing far too many tardies due to oversleeping, traffic and weather. Slow start excuses are not acceptable excuses day in and day out! We need to turn this pattern of poor attendance around. We want all students to be successful at Lakeview Elementary and regular timely attendance is crucial to this goal. Please know that anytime your child is late to school for any given reason, you need to come into the office and sign the student in. If you have a situation that needs to be addressed, or if there is anything we can do to help, please alert the front office or Principal Rothaus.
As a reminder, it is Lakeview policy that anytime you enter the building for any given reason, you stop at the front desk and sign in. This is for the safety of everyone.
Kim Brandon, Lakeview Front Office Staff

Calling all Sponsors to the Lakeview School Auction
The Lakeview Elementary School Auction, Leaping our Leopards into the Future, is coming up on Saturday, 5/11. We are looking for personal or business sponsorship and underwriting of our auction so that all auction proceeds go towards Lakeview PTSA programs! These programs, including iXL, Reflex, Accelerated Reader, Zeno, art, science, chess, dance night and movie night, benefit all of Lakeview but require yearly funding to continue. Sponsoring the auction is a tax-deductible donation for you, your personal business, or employer. There are multiple levels of sponsorship from $500 and up to accommodate all sizes of businesses. Your business will also receive advertising both at the auction and in the community through auction marketing. If you or your company is interested or would like to hear more, please contact auction Co-Chair, Jenni Heuberger at lakptsafundraising@gmail.com or 425-503-6791. Let's help our Leopards Leap into a successful 2013!

Walking Wednesdays
Walking Wednesdays is a new program we started this year to encourage families to walk and bike to school to improve kids health and help with our traffic congestion problems. There's also a new study out that state walking or biking to school can increase a child's ability to concentrate to the equivalent of someone 6 months older. To encourage kids to walk or bike, we are giving out prizes at the end of each month for kids who participate in Walking Wednesdays. In October, we gave Menchie's gift cards to everyone who walked or biked to school every Wednesday (each teacher has a Wednesday Walking tracking form in their room). Next week, we will hand out the November prizes of a free Slurpee from 7-Eleven for kids who walked every Wednesday. We're going to combine December and January walkers and hand out prizes to kids who walk at least 6 out of those 7 Wednesdays. Join in, get some exercise, and win a prize! For more information, visit the Walking Wednesdays web page.
