PTSA Survey
During October, we ran an online survey to seek guidance from the Lakeview community on where the PTSA should focus its efforts. We are really excited so many people (124 parents & 15 members of staff) participated in the survey which provided us with fabulous feedback. This information will be used to guide the choice of fundraising and volunteer efforts as well as priorities for the budget.
From the survey comments, the following themes were identified and will be used to help us plan for the rest of the year:
· Academics
· Playground/Field Improvements
· Feedback for State/District
· Community/Connections
· Communication/Collaboration - especially for volunteers
Overall it appears there is broad support for most of the events/activities the PTSA organizes. A clear majority of respondents plan to take part in almost all the events. There is a clear preference for direct contributions of time and donations rather than separate fundraisers.
On funding (time and money) results were less clear cut. We will take into account the preferences when allocating budget.
A big thank you to everyone who took the PTSA online survey and to the PTSA Survey Committee (Mary Pund, Christina Limena, Kendra Rosencrans, Rachelle Kortus & Julie Barker) for getting the survey out there! Thank you for the great turnout at the general meeting last night! Excellent feedback. Keep the suggestions coming! Send email to: lakptsapresident@gmail.com.

Note From The Principal
Dear Lakeview Families, The Lake Washington School District has been battling a computer virus for the last few weeks. Lakeview has been hit particularly hard. Computers found to be infected with the virus are being removed from the network and cannot be used until the outbreak is under control. Please understand if you are not hearing from your child's teacher as often, they are without a computer. Friday, 11/2, all computers on the network will not have access to S drives, U drives or shared files.
The good news:
o This virus is not spread through documents or emails.
o It will not destroy any documents or emails.
o Home computers of students or parents are not at risk from emails sent or documents transferred from the district.
o SOPHOS, the district's anti-virus software vendor, is working closely with the district to address the attacks.
o A new virus definition was released on Sunday, 9/23 to combat the virus.
On a happier note, thank you to all the families and parents who joined us on Halloween. The kids loved wearing their Halloween costumes and sharing their evening plans with friends.
