Storm Water Quality Awareness Survey
Residents of Placer County are being asked to take an online educational awareness survey on the subject matter of "Storm Water Quality."  Participants who complete the survey will have the option to enter into a monthly drawing for local prize giveaways. Survey responses will be evaluated to gauge the level of storm water awareness in the community. In a few years, the survey will be conducted again to benchmark progress. To take the survey, visit www.surveymonkey.com/r/stormh2o.

Please share this survey with friends and family in the Placer County area. We hope to achieve a great response from the regional community and thank you in advance for your participation.

Flood Zone Changes Coming Soon

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) designates certain areas as Special Flood Hazard Areas, also called "100-year floodplains." A flood that has a one percent chance of occurring in any given year is called a "100-year flood."  Floodplains are the areas along rivers or streams that have been or may be expected to be covered by a "100-year flood."

Upcoming Changes to the FEMA Floodplain Maps

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has re-examined Placer County's flood risks and developed detailed digital flood hazard maps, known as Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (DFIRMs). The new maps are considered preliminary and should go into effect once they're made final in about a year (estimated to be June 2017), after a public review and appeal period.

Public Workshop

A 90-day public review period will start in early June to allow residents to submit information to appeal changes to the maps if they believe the flood plain determinations to be inaccurate. FEMA will join county and city representatives at several community meetings in June to explain the map changes and answer questions about the maps and National Flood Insurance Program.  Go here for a listing of the community meetings. A City of Lincoln representative will be present at the June 29th community meeting in Rocklin.

Property owner's whose floodplain status is likely to change with the new FEMA floodplain mapping should receive a letter from the City of Lincoln discussing the changes to their floodplain status in early June.

For detailed information on these changes, please visit the City of Lincoln website at www.LincolnCA.gov.

Planning a Special Event?

Throughout the years, event planners and service organizations have been looking for a comprehensive "Community Calendar" where they could advertise their events, or to check to make sure there are no other events planned for the same day.

With the City's new website, we now have such a tool in place! And the process is simple.

Simply click here to submit your event right now. Instructions are very easy to follow.

If you should have any problems submitting your event, please contact the City's Public Information Officer, Jill Thompson, at (916) 434-2448 and she will be happy to walk you through the process.

It is our hope that by using this tool, all City service organizations and event planners will get more exposure for their special events, and that by avoiding multiple events on the same day, each event will be well attended and a huge success!
