$145,000 Grant Helps with Softball Facility Upgrades
| |
Planned upgrades to softball facilities at Foskett Regional Park in Lincoln just got a boost from a $145,000 Placer Valley Tourism grant. The grant compliments the City's $375,000 investment in a new, expanded restroom facility at the park. The grant will further enhance the facility with shade structures over the bleachers and dugouts, and new bleachers for expanded spectator seating. Lincoln's Foskett Park is one of the most active sports tourism destinations in the region, with over 35 weekends booked per year. Softball is a primary use with frequent tournaments at the regional, state and national levels. "Foskett already is a top facility with regard to the actual playing field," said Jeff Dubchansky, Commissioner of the Greater Sacramento Softball Association and Placer Valley Tourism Board member. "These improvements will greatly enhance the spectator off-field amenities." This funding partnership continues the collaboration between the City of Lincoln and Placer Valley Tourism. In 2015, along with William Jessup University, the organizations committed to a $910,000 investment in McBean Park Stadium. Jessup 's baseball program will make McBean its home for the next decade. "Placer Valley Tourism's financial support of the improvements at Lincoln's Foskett Park will generate even greater interest for Softball tournaments in Lincoln," said Lincoln Mayor Spencer Short. "Large, frequent tournaments generate significant tourism dollars that create business opportunities and jobs in our community. We are fortunate to have great partners in PVT and GSSA to develop first class facilities for the Lincoln community and beyond." The improvements to Foskett Park are expected to be completed by Memorial Day.
