The last day to register to vote for the November 4, 2014 Statewide Direct General Election is October 20, 2014. Registration forms may be picked up at all post offices and libraries in Placer County or online at www.sos.ca.gov. To further assist Placer County voters, voter registration forms will be placed outside the Placer County Office of Elections entrance at 2956 Richardson Drive, Auburn, on October 20 until 12:00 AM (midnight). Completed registration forms will be processed the next morning. In addition, completed registration forms can be placed in the secure, drive-up drop-off box located in front of the Office of Elections.
To provide better service to voters, the Placer County Office of Elections will be open the two weekends prior to the election. Weekend hours are from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, October 25; Sunday, October 26; Saturday, November 1, and Sunday November 2. The Office of Elections will also be open on Columbus Day, October 13, 2014, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Elections staff will be available on these days to process Vote-By-Mail requests and issue Vote-By-Mail ballots over the counter. Voters may call 530-886-5650 or toll-free in California, 1-800-824-8683, with questions regarding the upcoming election.
"This department is always looking for ways to be more accessible to the voters of the county. That is why I began weekend service more than fifteen years ago," said Jim McCauley, Placer County Clerk-Recorder-Registrar of Voters. "We hope weekend hours enable even more people to take advantage of Vote-By-Mail voting and have their voices heard."
