65 Bypass Projects Wins SACOG Award

SR- 65 Lincoln Bypass Project wins

SACOG Salutes! Regional Project of the Year Award

SACTO Salutes
The Highway 65 Lincoln Bypass was selected by the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) as the "Regional Project of the Year" for its 2012 "SACOG Salutes!" awards. PCTPA Executive Director Celia McAdam along with PCTPA Board Members Tom Cosgrove (City of Lincoln), Jim Holmes (Placer County), John Allard (City of Roseville), Scott Yuill (City of Rocklin), City of Rocklin Councilmember Peter Hill, and Caltrans District 3 Director Jody Jones were on hand to accept the award on December 6, 2012 in Sacramento.

The Placer County Transportation Planning Agency, in partnership with the City of Lincoln, County of Placer and Caltrans, received the SACOG Salutes! Project of the Year award for the SR- 65 Lincoln Bypass Project. Since 1999, SACOG has recognized outstanding and innovating land use, transportation and air quality planning, programs and activism through it's SACOG Salutes! awards program. The award was presented at the December 6 SACOG Board Meeting.

"We are so proud to be recognized by SACOG for the successful completion of the Lincoln Bypass.     This project is the perfect example how important it is to have a strong partnership among the local jurisdictions to prioritize and fund a transportation project of this magnitude," said Celia McAdam, Executive Director for the Placer County Transportation Planning Agency.

The SR-65 Lincoln Bypass, with a history spanning three decades, is the largest roadway infrastructure project in Placer County's history ($350 million). Officially opened on Sunday, October 7, the SR-65 Lincoln Bypass brings highly anticipated congestion relief to the region by improving overall travel times on both the highway and local roads, enhancing safety throughout the corridor, reducing vehicle emissions, and improving goods movement.

"In addition to the regional benefits, the Lincoln Bypass allows the City of Lincoln to turn our Main Street back into a Main Street," said former PCTPA Board Member and Lincoln Councilman Tom Cosgrove.   The Highway 65 section that bisected the Lincoln's historic downtown was relinquished to the City and the City is currently designing a more pedestrian friendly environment in downtown Lincoln.
