Summer temperatures convince us that summer is surely here.   And summer time means that  'some things looming' closes it's doors to the public for a couple of months.  But, while our doors are closed during the day, we are indeed very busy with preparations for next season.  Have we mentioned it will be our 5th exhibit year?

In between working on the building and doing some improvements and planning, we have been very busy with a new group that we proudly sponsor, Fiber Federation.

 Yarn Bomb

Fiber Federation is a group of radical fiber fans who plan on transforming Washington street from 6th street to the Goggleworks by taking art to the streets.  We're sending out this little bulletin to let you see what we've been up to and to invite you to participate in anyway you might choose.

There are many of you who are invested in our city.  There are others of you who live far away but who understand how much power there is in a small encouragement.

We have a wonderful start, but if we are going to make it before the summer is out, we are going to need some help.  Take a look at our block and see if there's some way you have time or resources to be involved.

Thanks for a wonderful season.

Yarn Tag - Washington Street
Italian Village
Getting into the spirit of the Italian Village's awesome food, we went all out pizza and Italian for owner Dave.

Thanks Dave for giving us permission to 'bomb' the joint.

Italian colors to follow hopefully later this week.

There's a brick column out front that is 'begging' to be adopted and tagged also.

Do I hear a volunteer?
Trinity Luthern - Yarn Tag
What an encouragement when our neighbors at Trinity Lutheran decided to get into the act and bomb their tree too!

Our boutique artist and awesome knitter, Annie H. had a hand in this.

Pastor Fred O. is a passionate supporter of the arts and his ceramics were a big hit during Handmade Holidays this past year.

Are you in love?....
..........with the city of Reading?

Even if you aren't hooked on yarn, there are a lot of ways to get  involved.

This tree needs someone to adopt and tag it.

You can get involved in many different ways.

Huh...?  Why a yarn bomb....?
Yarn Bomb
Urban knitting, crocheting...is a form of street art.  It is a national and international movement created to soften or call attention to the hardscapes of the urban environment.  The traditionally stated goal is to view utilitarian objects in a different light by adding a touch of warmth and whimsy to our outdoor surroundings.

Our mission is to bring something positive to downtown Reading.  We hope this fun installation will put a smile on your face and give you a reason to cruise downtown.
