Calling all alumni! There's still time! Make a float and show your spirit. Or if you are a former homecoming King or Queen, come join the celebration and drive members of the court in a cool convertible. The theme for the class floats is "Film". You can stick with the theme and build a float based on a movie of your era or not, it's up to you. If you would like to gather a group to make an alumni float or participate in the parade in any way- Contact Layla Dawson ldawson@sccs.net
Please spread the word! Come to one or both events, see old friends and show your school spirit!
Got Flatbed? We are looking for a flatbed truck or trailer on which the Freshmen class can build their float. If you can lend yours for this worthy cause please contact Layla Dawson at ldawson@sccs.net

Knights Win In Brad Tompkins' Head Coaching Debut |
"This feels so good," Tompkins said after receiving congratulations from family and friends, such as Knights alum Dan Barker, a standout receiver more than four decades ago. "This program is so proud. To be here with the old guys - heck, I'm an old guy - and to do it right, like we did tonight, makes me feel really proud."Soquel's proud history began in 1962 with Tompkins' father, Dewey, the program's first head coach and the man for whom Soquel's field is named.
But this is a new era of Tompkins. Dad, who passed away in 2010 at the age of 81, liked the power run game. Son has other ideas for his program. Click for full story

Welcome Prrincipal Atlansky! |
We are pleased to announce that our own Soquel High alumni, Gail Atlansky, has accepted the interim position of principal at Soquel High. When Principal Atlansky graduated in 1990, she never dreamed she would be back running the entire place. She is very familiar with the staff and campus because she served for 2 years as Vice Principal and worked as a counselor for 6 years. Staff and students have commented on the many positive changes in the first few weeks. The Principal wants to build a positive and supportive relationship with teachers, staff, and students; increase students' outcomes by closing the achievement gap; and increase school spirit and campus pride--starting with a new marquee. She is working on replacing the dilapidated marquee on Old San Jose Road with a wonderful new sign that will serve as the welcome to the campus, as well as provide timely information. We want a campus and education that all of our students can be proud of. If you can help with a donation for the marquee or other school improvement, contact Gail Atlansky at gatlansky@sccs.santacruz.k12.ca.us. Thanks for joining us in welcoming Gail Atlansky as principal of Soquel High School.
