The Parking Professional: Elevating the Art of Parking
It's not often that a parking garage is credited with revitalizing part of a city, but that's exactly what's happened in Detroit. The Z, a mixed-use project that includes 1,300 parking spaces, 34,000 square feet of specialized retail space, and dozens of murals created by 27 artists from around the world, zigzags through two properties that were previously parking lots. The new development is already refreshing part of Detroit, bringing people in just to see what's inside, and it's featured in the May issue of The Parking Professional.

The two-day Innovation in Mobility Public Policy Summit will bring forward-thinking transportation professionals together in Washington, D.C., to discuss new developments in shared-use mobility and foster further collaboration between governments and private sector mobility providers. Building on the successful Shared Use Mobility Summit in San Francisco last October, this event will feature panel discussions and presentations by influential mobility leaders in the public sector along with experts in the fields of carsharing, one-way carsharing, peer-to-peer (P2P) carsharing, public bikesharing, ridesharing, and technology, all sharing their experiences in bringing new transportation options to local communities.
Hosted by the Association for Commuter Transpotation, Transit Center, Mobility Lab, and the University of California Berkeley Transportation Sustainability Research Center, summit participants will examine ways governments and shared-use providers can work together to create more seamless transportation systems within their communities and connect even more individuals to their services. The event will also examine the role of emerging technologies in shared-use mobility and how the public and private sectors can take advantage of them to reach a wider portion of the travelling public.
