The Parking Professional Wins Award for Boston Marathon Bombing Article

June TPP 2013 The Parking Professional, the monthly magazine of IPI, won a silver award for feature writing in Association Media & Publishing's 2014 EXCEL Awards, marking the second year in a row the magazine has been recognized in that competition for outstanding writing.

The EXCEL Awards is the largest program recognizing excellence and leadership in association publications, media, and communications. This year, 110 associations received awards from a pool of more than 960 entries.

The Parking Professional received a silver award in the feature article category for its June 2013 cover story, "In the Blink of an Eye: Parking and the Boston Marathon Bombings." The story featured several IPI members who were actively affected and involved in the 2013 Boston Marathon, including one who crossed the finish line minutes before the explosions and two more who had to run parking and transportation operations in Boston during the immediate aftermath of the bombing and subsequent manhunt.

Founded in 1963, Association Media & Publishing is a membership organization of association publishers, communications professionals, designers, and content generators. The 2014 EXCEL Awards will be presented during their annual Gala in May.

If you are a CAPP, we need your expertise!  We have a special request of you! We need 50 more CAPPs (you) to beta test the new exam. From now until May 23, CAPPs may recertify by participating in the beta testing of the new CAPP examination (at no cost). You will take the computer-administered exam at a nearby IQT Testing Center. Mobility Summit, June 10 - 11, 2014

The two-day Innovation in Mobility Public Policy Summit will bring forward-thinking transportation professionals together in Washington, D.C., to discuss new developments in shared-use mobility and foster further collaboration between governments and private sector mobility providers. Building on the successful Shared Use Mobility Summit in San Francisco last October, this event will feature panel discussions and presentations by influential mobility leaders in the public sector along with experts in the fields of carsharing, one-way carsharing, peer-to-peer (P2P) carsharing, public bikesharing, ridesharing, and technology, all sharing their experiences in bringing new transportation options to local communities.

Hosted by the Association for Commuter Transpotation, Transit Center, Mobility Lab, and the University of California Berkeley Transportation Sustainability Research Center, summit participants will examine ways governments and shared-use providers can work together to create more seamless transportation systems within their communities and connect even more individuals to their services. The event will also examine the role of emerging technologies in shared-use mobility and how the public and private sectors can take advantage of them to reach a wider portion of the travelling public.
