CAPP Changes: Be the First to Know and Help Us Advance the Profession!
|
Be among the first to know about substantial changes to the CAPP Program that will take effect July 1, 2014. As the CAPP credential continues to gain international influence and value, the program must change to reflect a global audience. The CAPP Program credential will now be completed through a computer-based examination that can be administered via world-wide testing centers.
These changes will maintain CAPP's high standards, better reflect the expertise and skills needed by today's parking professionals, and lower the cost and travel demands on those who seek to earn the credential. The new CAPP Program offers greater flexibility for CAPP candidates and current CAPPs. The comprehensive 2014 CAPP Candidate Handbook, including an application as well as the new CAPP Recertification Guidelines, may be downloaded at parking.org/capp.
We will deliver informational webinars on the CAPP changes in May. Be on the lookout for upcoming dates. If you are a potential CAPP candidate, please review our Frequently Asked Questions by clicking here. FAQs for current CAPPs can be found here. For additional information, please feel free to contact capp@parking.org.
If you are a CAPP, we need your expertise! We have a special request of you! We need CAPPs (you) to beta test the new exam. From now until May 23, CAPPs may recertify by participating in the beta testing of the new CAPP examination (at no cost). You will take the computer-administered exam at a nearby IQT Testing Center. IPI will pay all exam fees, and have no fear--we are not concerned if you pass or fail and no scores will be reported or released during this testing period. Those who take the beta test will automatically be eligible to recertify for the next three years (until 2017) without any other requirements aside from the recertification fee.
To learn more about the beta test and register to take the new CAPP exam at a testing center near you, contact Lauri Chudoba, Professional Development Administrator, at capp@parking.org or 571.699.3011. Thank you for your assistance and for helping us advance the profession.

The two-day Innovation in Mobility Public Policy Summit will bring forward-thinking transportation professionals together in Washington, D.C., to discuss new developments in shared-use mobility and foster further collaboration between governments and private sector mobility providers. Building on the successful Shared Use Mobility Summit in San Francisco last October, this event will feature panel discussions and presentations by influential mobility leaders in the public sector along with experts in the fields of carsharing, one-way carsharing, peer-to-peer (P2P) carsharing, public bikesharing, ridesharing, and technology, all sharing their experiences in bringing new transportation options to local communities.
Hosted by the Association for Commuter Transpotation, Transit Center, Mobility Lab, and the University of California Berkeley Transportation Sustainability Research Center, summit participants will examine ways governments and shared-use providers can work together to create more seamless transportation systems within their communities and connect even more individuals to their services. The event will also examine the role of emerging technologies in shared-use mobility and how the public and private sectors can take advantage of them to reach a wider portion of the travelling public.
