Q&A Transcript from Snow and Ice Management Webinar
|
Phill Sexton, director of education & outreach for the Snow & Ice Management Association, Inc., delivered IPI's Sept. 18 webinar on practices for managing snow and ice. Here is part of the question and answer transcript from the webinar:
What are some strategies for enforcing restricted parking areas such as fire lanes when markers are obscured by snow?
The simplest strategy I've experienced, particularly for areas with heavier snow season, is to install traffic cones when snow is forecasted. They both allow you to see the area and also warn people not to park there. Once you have achieved clear conditions, remove the cones until the next storm. The challenge will be getting people to obey and who sometimes decide to remove the cones. This happens even when it doesn't snow unfortunately.
Access the archived version of the webinar here and IPI members can read the full Q&A transcript here.
