IPI Conference & Expo Breaks Records
|
To our attendees, sponsors, exhibitors, host committee, volunteers, session leaders, and all those in our wonderful community of parking people who were at the IPI Conference & Expo last week, a very big thank you!
More than 2,700 parking professionals from 36 countries gathered in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., May 19-22 for the 2013 IPI Conference & Expo, which offered more education, networking, and products and services on display than any other parking event in the world.
Highlights included the 20th annual CAPP Classic Golf Tournament, ShopTalks, education sessions, and the Mix, Mingle, and DISCOVER reception at the amazing Fort Lauderdale Museum of Discovery and Science, where attendees experienced hurricane-force winds, climbing through the mouth of a giant shark, making their own television broadcasts, and terrific casual networking with industry friends.
Also well-attended and enjoyed were keynote addresses by Scott Brusaw on his Solar Roadways project; Mary Smith on the future of parking and trends that will affect it; and Bill Smith on how and why parking professionals are always marketing themselves and their companies. The 2013 IPI Awards of Excellence and Professional Recognition Program awards recognized the best innovations of the year (see the June issue of The Parking Professional for more), and the Expo hall floor was packed with more than 200 exhibitors and thousands of industry professionals looking to make their next purchases. Local and national news organizations also flocked to the event, producing stories on the next generation of parking and what it means for communities around the world.
For more on the record-breaking 2013 IPI Conference & Expo, visit the Parking MattersŪ Blog and keep an eye out for the forthcoming July issue of The Parking Professional, which will feature lots of highlights and photos. And mark your calendar for the 2014 IPI Conference & Expo, June 1-4, in Dallas, Texas!

Congratulations Poster Session Winners
|
Thank you to all those who contributed posters to IPI's first-ever Parking Poster Session. If a picture is worth 1,000 words, then a poster may be worth much more! Sponsored by IPI's Smart Parking AllianceSM, this was a valuable addition to the conference offerings and is bound to become a regular conference event, with more space allocated for our poster exhibit area in Dallas in 2014. Forty-three posters were featured, but our panel of judges gave special accolades to these winners. Congratulations, all!
