Online ShopTalk: Airport Parking Incentive Programs |
Encouraging Customer Parking Preferences Through Incentive Programs
The October Online Shoptalk will discuss a number of incentive programs including loyalty programs, reservation programs, and corporate or frequent parker programs. Participants who use these types of programs will be asked what the driving factor for their implementation was and how airports justify them.
The Online ShopTalk will be a free-form discussion requiring active participation by all registrants. Steve Koester, A.A.E., parking systems manager at the Port of Portland, will moderate the discussion.
IPI ShopTalks are provided at no charge to IPI members*.

Each year, IPI recognizes and commends trends in parking facility design that are aesthetically pleasing, functional, green and sustainable. We also recognize innovation in parking programs and operations. This year's 31st annual IPI Awards of Excellence open competition is for public agencies, jurisdictions, institutions, organizations, and corporations that own parking facilities completed or renovated since January 1, 2010, or that conduct parking programs/operations initiated since that date.
Awards of Excellence plaques and Awards of Merit are given to submitted projects/operations as determined by the IPI Awards of Excellence Committee to be deserving of recognition in each category. Nominations Sought For Professional Recognition Awards |
Each year the IPI Professional Recognition Program honors those in our industry who exemplify professionalism. You have the opportunity to nominate a colleague, an employee, an organization, or yourself. There is no fee involved. Please note that the IPI Board of Directors recently voted to re-name the Parking Professional of the Year award in honor of the late James M. Hunnicutt, one of IPI's founding fathers.
The Professional Recognition Program competition consists of four categories:
- James M. Hunnicutt Parking Professional of the Year (for management-level professionals who direct an entire parking/transportation operation, or manage multiple units within a department.)
- Parking Organization of the Year (for public or private parking organizations, departments, consultants, suppliers, commercial operators, etc.)
- Parking Supervisor of the Year (for those who supervise one or more employees within a parking/transportation department or unit.)
- Parking Staff Member of the Year (for front-line staff)

Texas Parking and Transportation Association Call for Speakers
The Texas Parking and Transportation Association will hold its annual conference April 1-4, 2013, in Austin, Tex. The Host Committee, in coordination with the TPTA Board of Directors, is now accepting proposals for presentations for the educational portion of the conference.
Proposals are welcomed regarding any topic of interest to our industry. In addition to parking, we have had specific interest in transportation-related issues. Presentations should not be marketing pitches for particular firms, services, or products. Successful proposals typically focus on educating the audience, presenting case studies of successes, and lessons learned from challenging projects. Submittal deadline is November 5.
