January 2014

Greetings!

Happy New Year and welcome to a spring season of exciting literary events. We start off with our annual Selected Members Reading on Tuesday, January 21, at 7 p.m., when we'll have a chance to hear a wide range of talent from within our own membership. Don't miss it!

Selected Members Reading

Our annual showcase reading of Charlotte Writers' Club members will take place on January 21, 2014 at 7 p.m. at the Queens University Conference Center. About a dozen writers will have an opportunity to regale us with their literary talent, reading from their best work. This is always an exciting time when CWC members young and old get to "strut their stuff" before their colleagues. Find out what your fellow Charlotte writers are creating and show your support.

CWC-North to Host Tom Perkins

Join Tom Perkins, a poet, memoirist and engineer, for a fireside chat on Sunday, January 26 at 2 p.m. at The Warehouse, 9216-1 Westmoreland Rd., in Cornelius.

The British world traveler will take us on a journey that begins with World War II in London and moves to the Persian Gulf. After side trips and a week in Paris, Perkins will take us for a trip to the states aboard the Queen Elizabeth on her first voyage after the war.

The Charlotte Writers' North event is free and open to the public.

Recalling Memories for Your Family or the Public

For anyone ready to write memoirs or considering doing a non-fiction book or short stories, the Charlotte Writers' Club is sponsoring its annual six-week course: "Recalling Memories for Your Family or the Public," taught by Margaret Bigger, author/editor of 24 books.

Classes will be held 2-4 p.m. on Wednesdays January 22-February 26 at Christ Episcopal Church, 1412 Providence Road. Cost for CWC members is $60; non-members pay $72.
