What's Better than a Million Dollars?

Passing the million dollar threshold in net worth is not nearly as satisfying as you'd think.

According to a recent survey by Ameriprise, becoming a millionaire might not be as big of a deal as you'd think. Recent retirees site other milestone as more "exciting" than passing the million dollar mark.

Knowing that they can retire with confidence and knowing they have enough financial resources to live comfortably are key comfort points for retirees.  For some, a million dollars is a goal, while others see it as just the tip of the iceberg. Knowing your spending needs in retirement is a key driver towards understanding what you really need to save to achieve your retirement goals.

Open Enrollment Time
No matter how you get your health insurance, there's a chance you may be paying more than you need to.

Whether you get your insurance through your employer, Medicare, or an Affordable Care Act Exchange, the fall is when you make choices about your coverage for 2017. A recent Aflac survey suggests people would rather scrub toilets than research insurance plans.  As such, it's no surprise that many Americans have not selected the most appropriate plan.

While not glamorous, choosing the plan that is right for you, can save you money. If you are covered by Medicare, contact your local SHINE or SHIP Counselor to help you make heads or tails of your options.
