We've heard the stories of athletes who sign multi-million dollar contracts only to end up broke soon after their career ends. In 2009 Sports Illustrated reported that 75% of former NFL players went bankrupt or were strapped for cash just two years after retiring. The NBA doesn't fare much better with about 60% of their retirees admitting to being broke with 5 years of ending their playing careers.
