Happy Father's Day
A Daughter's Lessons Learned from her Dad.

As a junior at Babson College, Marc's daughter, Mindy is spending the summer as an intern at MFS Investment Management. Suddenly she seems to have a new appreciation for what goes into making a successful career, as well as a happy life.

This week she sent us the article to share in Planning Pointers. "What a great Father's Day present," quipped Marc. "Perhaps she's starting to get it."

Debbie Harrison, knows a few things about running a successful family business, her father Bill Marriott started a little hotel chain, perhaps you've heard of Marriott International? She had a front row seat to watch her father grow the business and learned every step of the way how to treat people and just how important it is to find a balance of both work & personal life.

Are You Ready to Buy Your First Home?

Before you start looking, you should consider a number of things.

While homeownership is considered the cornerstone of the "American Dream", buying a home should be viewed as a lifestyle investment first and only secondly, as a financial investment. While over time, buying a home can be a good way to build equity, recent history has shown, house prices can go down as well as up.

Real estate prices can fluctuate considerably and if you aren't ready to settle down in one spot for five years or more consider deferring a home purchase until you're ready for the long term commitment.

Do You Shop at Costco?
What you need to know about Costco's credit card switch.

Over the past week you may have noticed a new Costco Visa in the mail.  It's not JUNK! Costco and American Express have parted ways and come Monday, June 20th that card, your AMEX, will NO longer be valid for ANY purchases!

Costco has partnered instead with Citibank Visa to offer a branded card and make them the exclusive credit card accepted at the store. Costco is trying to make the switch as painless as possible for their customers.  Current card holders will not have to apply for the new card, nor will there credit be checked in the process, they also will retain all the rewards on their accounts.
