The Big Five O!
The best is yet to come!

On Saturday I will hit the half century mark, and as expected and I was quickly welcomed into AARP, the nation's largest not-for-profit organization earlier in the week. I guess this is my official rite of passage into maturity. Yikes!

As I ripped opened the government-like looking notice with the red imprint "Happy Birthday, Marc," I was faced with my first question as a fifty year old. Should I pop out the red plastic membership card and "register now?"

Paying the Price for Bad College Choices
High school seniors committed to colleges last week.  Did they make the right choice?

May 1 marked the day most high school graduates made their final decisions on where they'll go to school this Fall. While many factors play into this decision, the long term ramifications/possibilities shouldn't be brushed off so easy.

College is a wonderful time in any young person's life, often it's the first time you are on your own, free from the rules of mom & dad, ready to party and live it up! There are lots of new people to meet, and hopefully, lifelong friendships.  It's the time when you start building your network of colleagues that you'll rely on for years to come.

But what about the overall cost of college?  Is it worth the high price if a financial aid package is not part of the equation and your college fund isn't so plump? Are you prepared for the impact that college loans will place on your income and expenses after graduation?  Are you prepared to ask, "Is an expensive school that has no desire to extend you a financial aid package, really worth it in the long run?  It's probably the most honest question you need to ask.  Click on the story below for more information.

What Some Moms Really Wants for Mother's Day
Hint, it isn't overpriced flowers!

Mother's Day is that one day of the year where mom is recognized for all the work she does.  Shouldn't she get to spend it relaxing and enjoying it anyway she sees fit. Some moms might enjoy a nice hike with the family, others might enjoy breakfast in bed, but some moms might just want to take a shower in peace. Whatever your mom might need/want, honor her this Sunday however she may like!
