Our annual Campaign Kickoff is on Thursday, September 17. Catawba Brewing has created United Way ESB to help us celebrate and it will be released to the public for the first time at the party. We're also collecting personal care items and nonperishable food for local student resource pantries.

UNC-TV, the statewide PBS network, is helping us get a jump start on our annual book and gift drive for local middle school students. They'll collect books at the NC Mountain State Fair and we'll distribute them through educational and nonprofit partners. There's even a chance to get a high five from Read-a-roo and Eagle from Space Racers. READ MORE>

Highlands Circle, our group for leaders in their 20s and 30s, celebrated 10 years with a party at The National. They shared stories from the past decade and enjoyed a summer evening in downtown Asheville. MORE INFO>

It's an "off-year" election, but if you live in Asheville, there are important races for City Council. On September 10 at YWCA from 6-8 pm, there is a "Meet and Greet" for candidates for the upcoming primary election on October 6. All candidates have been invited. MORE INFO>

Employees from the City of Asheville competed in their inaugural ping pong tournament. It was a great way to promote healthy living and collective action, as well as a lot of fun for players and spectators. Congratulations to winner Kerby Smithson! VIEW GALLERY>
