What Have You Inherited?: Inside The Tent With Isaac, Rebecca, Esau and Jacob

"A story is typically told: In the moment of transmitting the authority of his traditions to his chosen heir, Isaac is duped by a conspiring wife and son. Not so fast. Come learn what the text might actually convey.
Read Genesis 27 before class. "

Pirkei Avot: Ancient Ethics of the Jewish Sages
(For A World Unsettled By Free Will)

"Absorb ancient ethical guidance, ripening on the vine of human experience for a few thousand years. Wisdom structured as simple axioms, proven in the complexities of day-to-day response to the ways and needs of our neighbors. In the current season of ethical murk, come remember the clarities of your own purposes in this world."

Girls Friendly Society: What is it?

Girls' Friendly Society (GFS) provides ministry to girls in a safe and accepting environment where Christ's love is evident. GFS-USA is a community within the Episcopal Church and a member of the World Council of GFS.
Through local GFS branches, the GFS-USA Month of Service, and GFS World Projects, we strive to respond to human need by serving others and seek to transform unjust structures of society, particularly for women and children.

St. George's Girls Friendly Society program will kick-off on Friday, 9/16 at 6:30pm in Ralph Hall with a potluck dinner and Bunco!!!

Christ Church Shrewsbury's GFS will join us.  All girls, age 5-20,  are welcome to attend with a female chaperone and need not be a member of St. George's.  CLICK HERE to RSVP and bring a food item to share.
We will discuss the program and share stories about our experiences with GFS.  We will meet only once per month either at the St. George's, Christ Church, or out in the community.  We will focus on living by the GFS creed "Bear Ye One Another's Burdens" by participating in service projects, learning about ourselves, and growing personally and spiritually in the process.  Our service projects can count toward community service hours for school, too.

See you soon-
