The 10th Sunday After Pentecost

"Jesus was praying in a certain place, and after he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples." He said to them, "When you pray, say:

Father, hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins,
for we ourselves forgive everyone indebted to us.
And do not bring us to the time of trial."
---Luke 11:1-4

Canterbury Art Show:
Famous Artists series -
Joe Bergholm

"Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing" - Camille Pissarro

Joe Bergholm, an award winning acrylic artist from Red Bank, whose work is held in private, municipal and corporate collections, is one of the returning artists who will be featured in the Canterbury Art Show this year.

After a distinguished career in engineering at Bell Laboratories and AT&T, he returned to his childhood artistic roots by creating art to celebrate the beauty of our world and to appreciate the infinite variety of color and design. Specializing in the new line of OPEN (slow drying) acrylic paints, Joe is Artist in Residence for the Red Bank Public Library Adult Painting Workshops and is a past president of the Plein Air Painters of the Jersey Coast. He has studied with numerous local and national teachers and for the past six years has studied under Scott Nickerson who specializes in figures and portraits. Joe Bergholm's artwork, including the pieces shown above, will be on exhibit for purchase at the Canterbury Art Show (September 2, 3, and 4).

Call to volunteers. We need at least 8 more able bodied people to move the art show grids from storage in Red Bank to Ralph Hall and then back again at the end of the art show. The dates are:
     Saturday 8/13 - 9:00am - 12pm
     Saturday 9/10 - 9:00am - 12pm
Last year we had 12 people complete the task in 2 hours. Let's see if we can beat that record!

How to sign up to volunteer: We are trying something new this year. Instead of sign-up sheets in Ralph Hall, we are using an on-line sign up website (SignUp.com). Just go to http://vols.pt/tGS5h6 to volunteer to move the grids (look for dates of 8/13 and 9/10 on the website) or any other job. If you have any questions, contact Beth Sherrard 732-383-7465 or bethsherrard@comcast.net; Maggie Raynor 732-233-4701 or maggiec813@gmail.com; and Coni Lefferts 732-888-1194 or clefferts@verizon.net
