"A certain woman named Lydia, a worshiper of God, was listening to us; she was from the city of Thyatira and a dealer in purple cloth. The Lord opened her heart to listen eagerly to what was said by Paul."

Thank You!

Thanks to Don Grant and Liz Gearon for inaugurating St. George's 1874 Society. As a result of their hard work, 44 faithful parish families have included St. George's in their estate planning. Their names are on the plaque located on the wall near the Memorial Garden door. It is never too late to become part of the 1874 Society! Please consider putting our beloved church in your will. Thanks to Bob Becker who has graciously offered to now lead our ministry of Planned Giving.
Pentecost is Coming!

What is Pentecost?

Pentecost celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit, in tongues of fire, 50 days after Easter. It is considered the birthday of the church.

Sunday, May 15, 2016

Mark your calendars for a very special Pentecost Celebration at the 10am Service.

Wear RED to church.

We ask that all children meet in Ralph Hall at 9:50 for a special procession into the church.
(They will then head to Sunday School.)

The Gospel will also be read in many languages, including Vietnames, Swedish, French, Bulgarian, and more!
Family Promise: Some Changes!
After 4 years of faithful leadership, family dinner Janine Lamm-Roy will step down as our Family Promise Coordinator.  Going forward the job will be broken down into smaller components. We are searching, therefore, for a last someone  to:
Be in charge of volunteer sign-ups.

Thanks to those who have already stepped up to be in charge of linens, to being a liaison to the larger program, for pantry stocking, and to oversee the week.

Please contact Ophelia if you might be willing to serve in the above capacity for this very special and rewarding ministry!
Training provided.
Speaking of Family Promise:
Our Family Promise Guests are returning Sunday, May 15th!  We still need volunteers for Evening Hosts, or Over Night Hosts, please see the sign up sheet by the water fountain in Ralph Hall.  We also will need assistance stocking the pantry and purchasing diapers/wipes.  If you'd like to help, please reach out to Janine Lamm-Roy (jlammroy@me.com) for a list of needed items.  And, if you've always wanted to volunteer with our Guests, but you don't know how to get started, please reach out to Janine, and she can answer all your questions.  As always, thank you for your support of this ministry!
Canterbury Fair

SAVE THE DATE!
JUNE 11, 2016
9:30am - 2:30pm
(Rain or Shine)

The Canterbury Fair is only 6 weeks away!

BE A PART OF THE CANTERBURY FAIR TEAM

We hope you will save the date and help us out. The Canterbury Fair is an event for the entire parish, and it would be wonderful if everyone would donate some time to help. It takes a lot of parishioners to make the Canterbury Fair happen and to make it successful!

There are many ways that you can help. Here are the areas that can use all the help they can get:

STAGING
- This is the work that miraculously makes the Fair appear and then equally miraculously makes the Fair disappear. The entire church grounds gets set up on Thursday afternoon and evening. A major part of this is setting up the tents. Then on Friday, we will need all hands on deck to set up tables!! As soon as the Fair ends on Saturday, all the tents come down, the tables are stored again inside and all the treasures that did not sell need to be removed. A BIG job! They will need all able bodied persons to take down the Fair! Contact Gregg at 732-859-5365 or Nowell@sitarcompany.com if you can help.

SILENT AUCTION - During the week before the Fair, all those wonderful things that have been donated need to be wrapped up into Baskets. On the day of the Fair, they all need to be taken out and displayed in the tent. Then the Silent Auction needs to be staffed with volunteers. And, of course, many are needed to help connect Auction winners with their prizes when the Fair is over as well as to move the remaining baskets into the Library. Jill Gemmel (732-804-9044 or
jillhgemmel@gmail.com) would be delighted to know of your DONATIONS AND WILLINGNESS TO HELP!

WHITE ELEPHANT - Help is always needed at White Elephant!  It starts with the Sunday drop-off on June 5th and goes all week. Help is needed to bring in donations that are delivered, then sorting, organizing and pricing them in Ralph Hall. On Friday everything is then set-up outside before the real fun begins on Saturday. That's when we need motivated help to sell all the treasures. Join us for hard work, fellowship & fun all week. Please contact Debbie Schmidt (732-687-9921) or Anne Marie Erwin (732-995-8833)!!

If you haven't signed up to be a part of the team, please call one of the Chair or Herb Geiss (732-996-5606) to find your
opportunity. If you have even an hour before, after or during
the Fair we can use you!!!
