Skeptics and Suds March Meeting Reminder

The March meeting of Skeptics and Suds will be on
Monday, March 14th from 7:00pm - 8:30pm. We will once again meet at the Associate Rector's house: 13 Lincoln Avenue, Rumson. It is located across the street from Church on the corner of Lincoln and Waterman.

This year we are reading Marcus Borg's book Evolution of the Word. The book places all of the documents that make up the New Testament in chronological order as they were written, and our purpose in reading it is to learn whether seeing this material from the non-canonical perspective might impact what we think the texts are about.

For this meeting, try to read through Page 275. This will cover the Gospel According to Matthew.

"Flowers for Friends"
(formerly "Monday Daisies")

is a group whose goal is to bring sunshine to fellow parishioners, in the form of small flower arrangements reconstructed from the main altar flowers. Teams of two generally meet on a weekly basis, either on a Sunday or a Monday, to create lovely flower arrangements, write notes and then deliver everything to shut-ins, the bereaving, the sick and ailing, new mothers and fathers, those celebrating special occasions and sometimes just because. Visits by the ladies of this ministry are most appreciated and bring warmth and special remembrance to the doorsteps of our parishioners.  No experience necessary - just a willing heart and a smile.   If you are interested in joining this fabulous group of ladies for 2016-2017, please call the co-chairmen, Barbara Grant, 732-345-7091 or Patty Overman, 732-747-9685.
You can also notify Debbie Duffy, our church secretary.

This Sunday is Diaper Sunday

WEBSITE UPDATE

Take a Carillon Tour
We invite all parishioners to visit our
"Together for Tomorrow"
website at

The site now includes a redesigned "Progress" tab, which will serve as the primary vehicle for St. George's parishioners to follow the progress of Phase 2 of our campaign, which we have designated as "Fulfilling Our Promise." In the "Progress" tab, you will find information on:
  • Pledge Fulfillment- bar chart showing pledge dollars  received vs. total dollars pledged
  • Capital Campaign Projects- Project Descriptions; Estimated Costs; Project Updates; Photos & Videos (where applicable)
We have posted our first video, which can be found under the Carillon Renovation project and provides you with a 10-minute tour of the carillon itself. If you have never been up there, now's your chance. Just a few clicks and you are on your way!
We will be updating the site periodically as pledge fulfillment totals change and individual project updates and photos/videos are added.

68th Canterbury Fair
JUNE 11, 2016
MARK YOUR CALENDAR

The Canterbury Fair is a 68-year St George's tradition that brings our Parish together in a generous outpouring of community support.
If you have participated in the past, you know that it is fun and gratifying.  We look forward to seeing everyone again on June 11th.  If you haven't participated before, we would be delighted to have you to join your fellow parishioners as a committee chair or committee member.
There is a committee to please everyone's interest and talents.  Please review the list below. Check off your top three choices so we can make sure that you can contribute in a way that you enjoy.  This will also help assure that each committee is staffed appropriately.  If you are unable to serve on a committee, we most certainly could use your assistance during the week before with setup and preparation as well as on the day of the event.
PLANNING IS NOW UNDERWAY to make this year's Canterbury Fair the most successful ever and with your participation, it will be!

Please e-mail your choices to Herb Geiss at canterburyfair@stgeorgesrumson.org
