Participate in our Summer Choir
Come lead our liturgy, even it is only for one Sunday. Warm-up and anthem rehearsals begin at 9:15am each Sunday in the choir room of Ralph Hall. Give it a try! |
Pledges during the Summer
Please remember your pledges to
St. George's this summer. It would be great if we can avoid the usual summer cash flow crunch.
Thank you in advance!

Please be kind and avoid blocking our neighbors' driveways when parking your car. Also, please refrain from parking in the driveway on the south side of the church unless handicapped. Thank you!

Thank you to so many for signing up early as volunteers for our Family Promise Guests.
We still have the following openings:
Overnight Host on Sunday, 17 August;
and Chef and Evening Host on Saturday, 22 August.
If you can fill any of these slots, please email Brenda, as she is acting as Parish Coordinator while Janine is away. Additionally, we need to stock the pantry for our Guests (we'll have 13!). If you can provide any pantry items, or diapers/wipes, please email Janine ( jlammroy@me.com) for donation ideas and drop-off times/locations. We truly appreciate all the support in this parish for the Family Promise ministry!

for Food Donations
Outreach: To Seek, Share and Serve
Your regular donations of nonperishable food items now have receptacles in the North and South Narthex and Ralph Hall. They are the "Chuck Wagons" and they replace the wicker baskets. The food donations are picked up each month and given to Lunch Break and/or the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Thank you for continuing to provide whatever food you can to help those in need.
Special thanks to Bob and Dee Dee Winters, David Gilmour, and Mark Murphy for assembling the wagons!

Backpack and School Supplies Collection
Foster and Adoptive Services (FAFS)
August 10th through September 13th
We are starting our annual collection of backpacks and school supplies for donation to Foster and Adoptive Services. Any school supplies would be greatly appreciated (backpacks, pencils, markers, notebooks, rulers, erasers, crayons, etc.). There are sales currently at Staples, Target, Walmart on back to school items.
Last year over 70 backpacks filled with school supplies were collected. The children who received these were thrilled! Containers will be set up in Ralph Hall for you to drop off supplies. The backpacks will be brought to the altar and blessed on
Sunday, September 13th.
If you are interested, GROUPON is having a special on fully supplied backpacks for 29.99. CLICK HERE for the link.
Foster and Adoptive Services is headquartered in Monmouth Junction. They are the leading statewide advocacy agency for foster and adoptive parents. They provide support, training and advocacy to meet the special needs of foster, adoptive and kinship families, who provide safe, stable and nurturing homes for children in foster care.
FAFS' Backpack Program was born from the images of children being removed from their homes for reasons of abuse or neglect with their belongings placed in trash bags. Today, when caring people like you donate backpacks, they are given to children in foster care by their foster parents as a gift to welcome foster children into the foster home.

The Canterbury Art Show:Can You Help?
As in years past, the art show takes place down the cloister walkway and in Ralph Hall. If you've been in the church leading up to the art show, you can't help noticing the black metal grids lining the walls and set up in Ralph Hall. We need a few able-bodied men to help us move the grids from the storage facility in Red Bank to the church. Here's the schedule: We meet at St. G's on Sat, Aug 15, 9AM, go in tandem vehicles to Red Bank where we meet up with Calvin and the rental truck, load the grids, return to church, and unload. You will be finished by 11! (The procedure is reversed on Sat. Sept 12th). Come for the fun, the fellowship, the workout, and the satisfaction of knowing you are making a difference! Please volunteer to help by contacting the church office or a committee chair: Coni Lefferts, Beth Sherrard, Denise Weiner, or Maggie Raynor.
