Nursery Clip Art
NEEDED
Volunteers are needed for the nursery on the following Sundays:
This Sunday,

 8/2, and 8/9, 8/16, 8/23, and 8/30.

Please contact Nicole Houston to sign-up.

Chuch School 2
Would you like to be a Church School teacher?
Church School begins on Sunday, September 13th.  Classrooms will be PreK/K, 1st/2nd, 3rd, 4th/5th and 6th/7th/8th.
We are in need of parents to volunteer as teachers. With multiple volunteers per classroom, you may only have to teach every 4-5 weeks!  And think of the huge impact you will be having on the faith formation of our children!
If interested in teaching, please contact Brenda.
Thank you!
Participate in our Summer Choir
Come lead our liturgy, even it is only for one Sunday.  Warm-up and anthem rehearsals begin at 9:15am each Sunday in the choir room of Ralph Hall.  Give it a try!
Pledges during the Summer

Please remember your pledges to
St. George's this summer.
It would be great if we can avoid the usual summer cash flow crunch.
Thank you in advance!
Please be kind and avoid blocking our neighbors' driveways when parking your car.  Also, please refrain from parking in the driveway on the south side of the church unless handicapped.  Thank you!
Backpack and School Supplies Collectionbackpack-sm.jpg

Foster and Adoptive Services (FAFS)

August 10th through September 13th

We are starting our annual collection of backpacks and school supplies for donation to Foster and Adoptive Services. Any school supplies would be greatly appreciated (backpacks, pencils, markers, notebooks, rulers, erasers, crayons, etc.). There are sales currently at Staples, Target, Walmart on back to school items.

Last year over 70 backpacks filled with school supplies were collected. The children who received these were thrilled! Containers will be set up in Ralph Hall for you to drop off supplies. The backpacks will be brought to the altar and blessed on Sunday, September 13th.

Foster and Adoptive Services is headquartered in Monmouth Junction. They are the leading statewide advocacy agency for foster and adoptive parents. They provide support, training and advocacy to meet the special needs of foster, adoptive and kinship families, who provide safe, stable and nurturing homes for children in foster care.

FAFS' Backpack Program was born from the images of children being removed from their homes for reasons of abuse or neglect with their belongings placed in trash bags. Today, when caring people like you donate backpacks, they are given to children in foster care by their foster parents as a gift to welcome foster children into the foster home.

FAMILY PROMISE
St. George's will be hosting our Family Promise Guests from
Sunday, August 16 through Saturday, August 22nd.  There are just a few volunteer spots left - one chef, one dinner hosting and several overnight hosting spots! Thanks to those who have already signed up. We are also looking for assistance stocking the kitchen.
Please see the sign up in Ralph Hall (by the water fountain) or email Janine Roy (jlammroy@me.com) if you are interested in supporting this important ministry!

Greeters and Art Guides Needed for the Canterbury Art Show

During our previous shows, many of you volunteered your time to welcome visitors to St. George's and help them find their way  around the fabulous art on display.  Our visitors definitely appreciate being greeted at the door and having your help to find their favorite artist and purchase that special work of art. The only requirements to be a greeter or art guide are simple ... all you need is your normal, happy, friendly hospitality and St. George's fellowship.

We've divided the reception and show into shifts to give you a range of convenient time slots in which to participate. These shifts are as follows:

Thursday, September 3: Meet the Artists Reception
6:45 pm to 9:00 pm

Friday, September 6:  Art Show
9:45 am to 2:00 pm  1:45 pm to 6:00 pm

Saturday, September 5:  Art Show
9:45 am to 2:00 pm    1:45 pm to 6:00 pm

Sunday, September 6:  Art Show
11:45 am to 4:00 pm

Please let us know if you can help during any of these time slots.

The submitted work of all competing Artists was carefully reviewed by our Jury and these Artists have won eighty-five coveted spots on our cloister walls. The Jury has also selected the show award winners which will be announced at our Meet the Artists Reception on Thursday, September 3rd.

Our Jury consisted of Carol Lynn Chetkin, co-owner of the Chetkin Gallery in Red Bank, Erik Johnson, Adjunct Professor with the Art Department at Brookdale Community College for more that twenty-five years, and Kim Roberts-Honecker,  chairperson of the Monmouth Arts Council, artist and former teacher. We thank them for their dedicated service.
