St. George's 2014 Raffle
Not much time left for you to possibly win a $5,000 or $3,000 vacation voucher or an Apple gift certificate valued at $600. And you will be helping the parish meet its commitment to our Outreach programs which lend a hand to those less fortunate in our community.

As of Aug. 11, we have 237 raffle tickets sold toward our goal of 600.

While we have a long way to go to reach this goal, we are encouraged by the fact that 38 parishioners have sold and/or bought all 5 of their tickets. Each will receive his/her free attendance to the Canterbury Art Show catered reception (a $40 value) on Friday, Aug. 29 from 7 to 9 pm. If you haven't already done so, won't you please consider selling or buying your own tickets?

The Raffle drawing will take place that evening at 7:45 pm and winners need not be present. If you cannot sell all 5 tickets, please consider at least selling or buying 2 of them. We are most grateful for your efforts, large and small.
BLESSING OF TEACHERS
All teachers - church school and otherwise- are invited to be blessed on Sunday, September 14th in anticipation of the academic year!
Backpack and School Supplies Collection for Foster and Adoptive Service

Now through the End of September

Blessing of Backpacks on September 7th

We are starting our annual collection of backpacks and school supplies for donation to Foster and Adoptive Services. Any school supplies would be greatly appreciated (backpacks, pencils, markers, notebooks, rulers, erasers, crayons, etc.). There are sales currently at Staples, Target, Walmart on back to school items.

Containers are set up in Ralph Hall for you to drop off supplies. The backpacks will be brought to the altar and blessed on Sunday, September 7th. The drive will continue through the end of September.

Foster and Adoptive Services is headquartered in Monmouth Junction. They are the leading statewide advocacy agency for foster and adoptive parents. They provide support, training and advocacy to meet the special needs of foster, adoptive and kinship families, who provide safe, stable and nurturing homes for children in foster care.

"I'll always remember my foster son was so amazed that someone was giving him something; his whole face lit up when he got the backpack, and he just kept thanking us and thanking us. He had been removed from his home for severe neglect; at age five, he had been found wandering on the side of a highway alone, looking for food. I don't think he had ever been given anything new in his life that he could remember. He cherished that backpack and used it every day in school."
